Summary

Two wolf shifters agree to be fake mates but unexpectedly find something real in this steamy paranormal romantic comedy by Lana Ferguson, perfect for fans of Rosie Danan

Fake mate . . . or perfect date?

Mackenzie hasn't had a successful date in months. She's only a year out of residency, and her grandmother's obsession with finding the perfect mate threatens to drive her barking mad, so it should be a small thing when she lies about meeting someone . . . until she blurts out the name of the last man she would ever date: Noah 'The Big Bad Wolf of Denver General' Taylor.

Noah, interventional cardiologist and all-round grump, has spent his entire life hiding what he is - an unmated alpha. But when an anonymous tip brings everything to light, he's left with two choices: come clean to the board and risk his career or find himself a mate. So, when the chatty, overly friendly ER doctor asks him to be her fake boyfriend the same day he's called to meet the board, it must be kismet, right?

Mackenzie gets her grandmother off her back, and Noah gets the chance to prove he can continue to work without a real mate - it's a mutually beneficial business transaction. But when the fake-mate act turns to a very real friends-with-benefits arrangement, lines start to blur, and they quickly realise love is a whole different kind of animal.

Good chemistry ❤️🔥

This book brought joy to my heart, as the main character is playful and unafraid to challenge the status quo. The chemistry between the characters is delightful, and witnessing their relationship blossom was truly enjoyable. The story held my attention from beginning to end.

Not on the listen again list

Joe Arden was great as usual, he's the only reason I managed to finish the story. Not liking Samantha Summers for this book, I think her voice would be more suited for young adult books instead. She gets all high pitch when excited and her male voice sounds sullen and monotonous, honestly I felt like she was portraying teenagers. Also, her volume is very erratic too. When she's talking in her male voice or narrating descriptive parts she's really quiet so I have to turn the volume up to hear her above normal room noise level, and then she suddenly gets excited and my ears are assaulted by loud teenage girl squeaks. Very jarring and I got frustrated with needing to adjust the volume every few minutes.

The writing didn't help either, the whole story was incredibly silly and immature. No character development, that opportunity was missed in favour of immature chats with (mostly her) friends and sex scene after sex scene. Look, I'm no prude and have no issues with explicit intimate scenes in romance books, but it was just too much and I ended up just skipping whole sections as I got so bored. The misunderstandings trope was used to exhaustion, no one talked to each other (except when loudly discussing the thing they were supposed to keep secret) and preferring to just assume and agonise like (again) teenagers. Not to mention that for a supposedly very smart doctor, Mac new eff all about her kind's biology..... Anyway, I won't be buying anything else written by this author.

fun and hot

this was such a fun and spicy read! Love the omegaverse a lot. Everyone deserves a hot, grumoy, possessive alpha in their life. Narrators did a good job!

Great story

lovely MMC, what a grumpy sweet heart. would have been better if the two narrators had appeared together rather than doing male/female voices

Not what I expected.

Very tough book. Wasn't what I expected and the bedroom and intimate scenes were very hard to listen to and awkward at times. Plot got lost on me at times as well.

Lovely story from different points of view

I liked the story and that it was told from both MCs point of view. Nice that they were both doctors, and that the medical stuff was on point. Good narration. The sex parts could maybe have been cut down a bit, got a bit same same, but they were well read. Perfect listening if you just want to relax.

Spicy and sweet

This omega verse style story may not have been ground breaking in terms of plot, but if you’re looking for a sweet, funny and incredibly spicy shirt read, this is it! Joe and Samantha’s performances are incredible.

just what I needed...

this book made me smile a lot, they appear to be made for each other, don't we all want that kind of happiness? there were times I could have banged their heads together, but, they got there in the end.
