Summary

Everyone in the kingdom talked about the King-in-waiting, Roland's elder son, Peter. And one man thought and planned and brooded on something else: how to make sure that Roland's younger son, Thomas, should be crowned King instead. The King is dead, murdered by an unusual poison. While evidence is gathered, and the land of Delain mourns, Flagg, the King's magician, unscrupulous, greedy and powerful, plots.

Soon the King's elder son, Peter, is imprisoned in the needle, the top of a high tower, for his father's murder. And Thomas inherits the throne. Only Peter knows the truth of his innocence, and the true evil that is Flagg. Only Peter can save Delain from the horror the magician has in store. He has a plan, but it is rife with danger. And if he fails, he won't get a second chance….

A captivating tale of heroic adventure, of dragons and princes, of mysterious mice and men from the pen of the master storyteller.

Absolutely fantastic

I've read this book many many times as it's my favourite and I don't usually read Stephen King. When I joined Audible this was the first thing I looked for. The narrator is excellent and I was pretty surprised to finf out who it was as I didn't recognise the voice even though I've seen him in many films. The only disappointing thing about this story is there is no sequel. Five stars.

So engaging

I've always loved this book but Bronson Pinchot does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. His characterisation of Flagg's voice is completely chilling. A fairy tale of sorts for adults and a really well paced story.

Not Dark Tower standard but

Still a good yarn. Enjoyed listening to it. Would recommend that if your hoping for a Gilead style adventure , you may be disappointed.

I loved this narrator

I really loved this book... the story kept me gripped until the end. To begin with I thought the narrator was really boring with a monotonous voice ... until I jumped out of my skin when he changed in to the voice of Flagg or one of the parrots. Amazing

Highly enjoyable fairy tale

Very easy listen, great narration and he gives Fly, the baddie in the tale a very sinister edge.
Highly recommend
