Six Students. One Murder. Your Time Starts Now...

The students of Royal Hastings University's new Multimedia Art course have been trouble from day one. Acclaimed artist Alyson wants the department to revolve around her. Ludya struggles to balance her family and the workload. Jonathan has management experience but zero talent for art. Lovely Patrick can barely operate his mobile phone, let alone professional design software. Meanwhile blustering Cameron tries to juggle the course with his job in the City and does neither very well. Then there's Jem. A gifted young sculptor, she's a promising student... but cross her at your peril.

The year-long course is blighted by accusations of theft, students setting fire to one another's artwork, a rumoured extra-marital affair and a disastrous road trip. But finally they are given their last assignment: to build an interactive art installation for a local manufacturer. With six students who have nothing in common except their clashing personal agendas, what could possibly go wrong?

The answer is: murder. When the external examiner arrives to assess the students' essays and coursework, he becomes convinced that a student was killed on the course and that the others covered it up. But is he right? And if so, who is dead, why were they killed, and who is the murderer? Only a close examination of the evidence will reveal the truth. Your time starts now...

For me I expected more from the storyline. Not as good as previous books from Hallet. Worth a read however as very much enjoy her style

Good acting and character

Riveting from the beginning and the little doors which open throughout giving that little bit of insight to the plot are wonderfully done. Loved it and will listen to again in future as am sure there’s bits I didn’t pick up on!

Wonderfully acted and absolutely loved it.

Having read Janice Hallett’s other books in print I was worried that the messaging style of the text would make for a stilted audiobook. So glad it had multiple narrators as that kept it completely comprehensible and pacy. Loved the twists. Highly recommend

Another ‘Page Turner’

I love Janice Hallett. Ever since I read The Appeal. This book is no different, I was hooked from the start. I literally couldn't stop listening to it. I loved the full cast, it gave it a sort of 'soap opera' feel but better. Yes the story was far-fetched but it is pure escapism and really reels you in. RECOMMEND

Brilliant story line and characters. I love Janine Hallett’s books, which I listen to on audio and this one certainly does disappoint. As with her other of novels this one is structured through the medium of e-messages between a group of Arts students, staff and others involved in the plot and tells the story as seen from a group of examiners reviewing concerning events that appear to have happened on a inaugural multimedia arts programme. It’s fast moving intriguing and has some wicked twists. The characters develop nicely through the books and their past slowly reveals itself to climax at the end really well. The voice actors do a super job and bring the characters to life. Great listen.

One of Janice’s best

An unexpected turn of events that kept me going to find out what exactly was going on.
Very unusual way of telling the story through a series of group and personal messages and reports. Took a bit to get used to but easy to follow and gave much personality to the characters.

Very original

I really wasn’t sure if this would work as an audiobook but it really does. The choice of using multiple voice actors makes this work. The story was captivating and I would 100% recommend it.

Fantastic story and audiobook
