Summary
Love and marriage are two of the greatest gifts life has to offer, yet too many marriages fail because couples don't fully understand the five stages of relationships. Because most of us have had hurtful experiences in past relationships, often going back to childhood, we develop an inaccurate love map that causes us to get off track when the stresses of life increase.
For more than 40 years, Jed Diamond has been helping couples repair even the most damaged relationships and reweave the broken strands of marriage. In The Enlightened Marriage, Dr. Diamond will help you: get through stage three - disillusionment, without losing your love, understand that when your partner says, "I love you, but I'm not in love with you anymore," it is not the end, but the beginning of stage four - real lasting love, learn why healing childhood wounds is the greatest gift of love you can give and receive from your partner, recognize and address the midlife stresses of "manopause," irritable male syndrome, and male-type depression, and follow your calling in stage five to make a real difference in the world.

Decent enough
I enjoyed this - and I listened to it all although did drift off in some parts - some good ideas and some well made points and certainly a good few take outs which I will be able to learn and take action from - certainly worth a listen

Enlightening
I found this book amazing and applicable to all relationships and interactions. Connecting behavior and biology in an unbiased way was exceptional. I wish I read it earlier in life.

Meh!
Started off well, giving insight and tips. But then talked too much about other things that have nothing to do with what we can control. Also- shares too much personal experience rather than focusing on giving advice!

Insightful
I think this book does an excellent job explaining where people go wrong when it comes to them seemingly falling madly in love with "the one" only to be divorcing them a few years later, and doing this multiple times, then wondering why thier relationships repeatedly fail. Too many people get stuck on the high of stage 1 to ever get to the point where they have a deep meaningful partnership. I think anyone who feels their relationship is "not the same as it used to be" can benefit from listening to this.

inlighing about issues I did not know I had
This book helped see the issues I bring and my parner brings to the relationship it helping me dive into my own issues and understand his. I read this coming from a abusive partnership and failing comunication this has opened my eyes to a lot of our short commings. It also helped me know my marriage is saveable and that we both are not ready to quit. This book can help people that are not married to open there eyes to abuse from childhood or a parner this book is a steping stone not a fix all.

Enlightening
This is, in my most humble opinion the Best book I have read!
The saying of “Do not judge a book by it’s cover” could not fit any better to it. This book is not just for married people, it’s for Everyone.

So preachy.
So many times he keeps going to great lengths to push his left leaning politics.
It's not focused enough on actual marriage advice. It's not a useless book, but you can find better.

Not about marriage
Too much preaching about the environment. This book was a waste of time and I don’t recommend it

Too much stuff!
Author tried to write a book about everything not too much of everything equals nothing in the end. Beginning was promising but he unfortunately only lightly touches the topic of marriage...
