Summary
The world of Alaria is changing, and the goddess who created it has no idea why.

Dull story
This review contains spoilers --
Pointless and dull story with two dimensional characters except maybe Liam. At no point did I feel any excitement about any of the characters or the story. Some reviewers thought Liam was weak but I disagree. He was traumatised because he saw the brutal death of his mother in front of him as a child. That is enough to distraught anyone let alone a kid. I like that he wasn't gung-ho about killing others. His mind didn't warp after suddenly acquired immense power and he was very cautious in his decision making which could seriously impact the lives of the entire population of a kingdom or the whole planet.
A few plot points that made no sense -
Given how sensible he was I don't understand why he allowed the princess to stay with him the first night. He didn't know her and the reason he gave that she was the only person who could understand her was just lame. This was on top of the fact he knew she was lying to him. Later when he realised she was an unstable and blood thirsty woman who enjoyed killing and the feel of the blood running down her hands he just accepted her because she killed those people because she thought they may hurt him in the future and because she was beautiful. This was bizarre coming from the man who hated killing. The only thing in that situation that would have made sense was for Liam to ask the princess to leave. From the information that we got later in the book we found that the initial attack at the border was a mistake but it did not explain the later attacks at Liam's house.
There were several plot holes in the story and nothing about it was exciting enough to disregard any of those points.
🎧 Neil Hellegers did a very good job narrating and was one of the main reasons that I was able to finish the book.

Absolutely brilliant.
I got this as a freebie and was hooked by the second chapter. So good I bought the second in the series with cash as I couldn’t wait for my members credits to roll around. Will be listening to it again in the future.

Loved it!
Short for a book and that's why I overlooked this one. Since It's free I gave it a go and it's pretty good. One of the best I've listened to.
