Book 3: back on top form!
Don't let the weaker storyline of book 2 put you off this series. if you enjoyed book 1, this is better. Characters from Stella and Jack's past emerge to interweave in a complex, tense and gripping story. I was glued to this. Lots of character development with the small world of Stella's acquaintances all taking roles and a gripping tale of grudges and murder. Great entertainment.

Great book, excellent narration
It may seem confusing in the first few chapters but bear with it as all will become clear! Loved the characters, quirky Jack and down to earth Stella and the plot was clever and well thought out leaving the reader guessing to the end. This is the first book I have read by Lesley Thomson and I'm looking forward to more. Anna Bentinck's narration is excellent as always!

Very English ! Usual taste nothing exciting !
Despite fantastic performance, didn't enjoy that much. It's my taste though, don't like tragedy-crime mixture.

The detectives daughter series
I have enjoyed this series of books immensely and I have just purchased book four. Each book is a good standalone read with a mystery that is just out of your reach so you can't put it down. For me, the world stops when I'm reading about Stella and Jack.

Absorbing and superbly written and read.
Look out because it could become an addiction! Reading this author is superb. A very smooth and interesting idea for a crime. Not all blood and guts. Intelligent and reads (or listens) like an old fashioned simple Miss Marple, .but has far more about it and less of the cliché . If I were to describe this in colours I would say it was very monochromatic..which in this context brings more reality and plausibility and less cozy cottage reading. A very good read.
