Summary

An enduringly popular classic of children's fiction, The Coral Island tells the story of three boys stranded on a seemingly idyllic desert island. Thoughtful Ralph; clever, brave Jack; and mischievous Peterkin soon find, however, that their new home has more than a few surprises in store!

Wayne Forester's energetic reading brings this classic adventure vididly to life. The Coral Island inspired a whole genre of adventure literature, influencing Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island and William Golding's Lord of the Flies.

Editor reviews

R. M. Ballantyne's beloved children's classic The Coral Island, first published in 1858, influenced the likes of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island and William Golding's Lord of the Flies. Here the accomplished voice-over artist Wayne Forester brings plenty of drama and energy to the tale of three boys wrecked at sea, and displays a knack for performing in different and entertaining voices. Forester’s pacing and enunciation is also spot-on, making this action-packed adventure story a great choice for kids and kids at heart.
