About this listen
Escape to the Comfort Food Café for a romance guaranteed to make you smile.
Staff Wanted – Must Be Comforting!
Maxine Connolly has had a rough year with the loss of her mum, marriage, and job in quick succession, and she’d be the first to admit that she hasn’t been coping. But when her teenage daughter, Sophie, applies for a job at the Comfort Food Café on her behalf, Max realises she’s let things get out of hand.
So when the job offer comes, Max decides to embrace this unexpected opportunity and uproot her life for a fresh start on the south coast. And even though it starts with a vicious storm that rips apart the cosy cottage that was meant to be their new home, the warmth of the people of Budbury, and the reluctant hospitality of gorgeous local recluse Gabriel Moran, show Max that there’s always reason to hope, and with cake in your belly there’s nothing that you can’t face…

Really good listen
Always a pleasure to listen to Debbie Johnson and the Comfort Food Cafe Crew. I want to be a part of their life too! Good catch up with everyone as well as the introduction of someone new. The personality of Max resonated with me. As usual Colleen Pendergast is a brilliant narrator.

A lovely re-visit to the Comfort Food Cafe
I was a little nervous about going back to The Comfort Food Cafe in case it ruined the nostalgia I have over this series, however this book didn't disappoint. Predictable? Yes. Does it matter? Not at all. Feel-good and light hearted and so great to be back with old friends! Listen to the other books in the series first and you'll enjoy this one.
