Story
This short story first appeared in science fiction magazine Amazing Stories and tells of a meteorite crash in rural Massachusetts...and of the horrific results. It was one of HP Lovecraft's most popular works for its combination of science fiction and horror, and it was the author's personal favorite short story.
Summary
A meteorite from cosmic space falls to earth on a backwoods Massachusetts farm. The space rock possesses peculiar qualities and mystifies even the brightest university scientists. But it soon becomes clear that this is no ordinary meteor, as its otherworldly influence unleashes a creeping wave of despair, death, and decay into the land and its inhabitants.

Brilliantly Done.
This is a really well done dramatisation and not a simple reading of the text, done into speech by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society (www.hplhs.org). It's extremely well done and fully captures the depth and existential horror of Lovecraft's original tale. We are mere playthings of a universe that is completely indifferent to the fate of individual humanity and humanity in general. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

Late Halloween listen
A very well preformed audio play.
Great acting, clear and understandable voice and great background effects.
As for the story, well it's Lovecraft. I admit I haven't read the original story I just know the plot from a summary if there were any of Lovecraft's infamous dated views or elements cut out their not here as far as I can tell.

So much fun!
I love Lovecraft, and these guys do a great job creating a radio-show feel. It is a fun, quick listen. This isn’t one of my favorite Lovecraft stories, but only because it is more sci-fi than horror feeling to me.

don't drink the water
at first it sounded like a bad case of radiation poisoning. but like all his stories Lovecraft turned it around and made something horrific with it. the dramatization of the story made it sound more realistic and in a first hand perspective if the tragic incident. I never wish to see my children in that state and I doubt I will know what I would do if my children died or went missing. that added so much more horror to the story.
