This one was a little different from the other Phil M Williams books I've read, but still brilliant with vibrant characters you could almost believe are sitting next to you telling you their story themselves.

Scott is just getting on with his life, when he finds out he needs to leave college sure to unpaid fees, leaving him in a bucket of debt.

He has a 'lowly' job as a cart pusher, then his girlfriend leaves him, his life starts to fall apart.

This is where the story really starts, what happens to Scott? Following a number of very bad choices, influenced by questionable people he has surrounded himself with, his life takes on a journey of its own.

Will he make it back? Does everything come right in the end? Does he find his happily ever after?

In typical Phil style, nothing is ever as it first seems, and this book is no exception.

Phil M. Williams asks a lot of questions about relationships and commitment and where, as humans, we place our trust. Scot's life was going well until he had to leave college because of late payments. Thousands of pounds are outstanding before he can resume his studies. With no help from the adults in his life he does what anyone would do. He take a job pushing carts. The story follows Scot as he makes the best of his situation before then making some truly frustrating decisions. Time and time again I was left reeling by the decisions Scot made. He's surrounded by some awful people all out for themselves and he simply refuses to see it. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a complaint about the author's writing, quite the opposite. No one, and I mean no one, creates characters that can get so 'under my skin' like Phil M. Williams. Some of these people left me wondering about my own emotional well being given how much I truly disliked them. (They're fictional for goodness sake!) So, well done Mr Williams, job done, in that respect. The story takes quite a few turns and I arrogantly assumed I knew where it was headed before the 'reading rug' was firmly pulled right out from under me.
