Summary

As the old gods awaken and satrapies splinter, the Chromeria races to find the only man who might still end a civil war before it engulfs the known world. But Gavin Guile has been captured by an old enemy and enslaved on a pirate galley. Worse still, Gavin has lost more than his powers as Prism - he can't use magic at all.

Without the protection of his father, Kip Guile will face a master of shadows as his grandfather moves to choose a new Prism and put himself in power. With Teia and Karris, Kip will have to use all his wits to survive a secret war between noble houses, religious factions, rebels, and an ascendant order of hidden assassins called The Broken Eye.

F**king brilliant

Yes I'm a fanboy and finished for the third time. Simon Vance is a remarkable genius and Brent Weeks is a god among literary bethomoths. Seriously though, throughout rough and horrible times these books have allowed me escape, recharge and re-engage with the normal world. Thank you!

overwhelmed

I have just smashed through this book in no time at all, if I would have know just how good they were before reading I wouldn't have waited to read them.

these books have a big expansive world, many entangling stories and some twists that I never seen coming or even expected.

I like to think that I have read alot of fantasy books but had sadly never heard of Brent weeks, he will be a name that I look for in the future and I think in the next few days I will have finished book 4 of this series and be wait in number 5.

I really never expected to love these books this much

trilogy was good up to the last few chapters

trilogy was good up to the last few chapters then it just seems to end in a rush and it was like the author just got fed up and wanted it to end.............pity as I did enjoy the books up to this point. did like the narrator that being said though .

Creatively strong, but poorly edited in places.

What made the experience of listening to The Broken Eye the most enjoyable?

You can't help but like the universe, Brent Weeks is padding out in this volume.

Good characters and an interesting approach to fantasy fiction, with the only real weakness being instances of poorly edited repetition and the odd overly self indulgent, hammy internal monologue.

What other book might you compare The Broken Eye to, and why?

Sitting in the same tier as Raymond Feist (though he is arguably more imaginative), Weeks produces highly enjoyable romps that you don't have to think too much about.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favourite?

Andross Guile is a great character for Simon Vance's vocal range. As a narrator, he often plays people with a voice too mature for their associated age group, but given that Andross is a ruthless octogenarian, Vance nails it with aplomb.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Pass.

Any additional comments?

Not as good as the Night Angel Trilogy, but inventive and worth a look.

Brilliant!!!

You'd not think a book this long, in a series so long could be this exciting, but it was and OMG I did not see those twists coming. Quick! where is book 4

These books have me hooked.

I started to listen to this series of books under protest as my son insisted on playing them loudly on Audible.
I then found myself hooked on the brilliant story lines full of intrigue.
Amazing author and fantastic book.

one of those

a book that makes you think:

"well, I certainly wouldn't do that"

The author of this series forgot to write in happy moments.

This is tradgey bait through and throught. nothing happens.

Well written yes, detailed plot, makes you feel stupid when reading, until you realise a world so black isn't fun to be in.

cllifhanger ending knocks it down to 1 star. Actually, just so annoying and childish how dark it is for a book about light.

Fantastic

Everything about this audio book was 10/10. The last 20 minutes had so many twists and turns I couldn't believe it. Highly recommend.
