Summary

THE LATEST BOOK FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR AND CREATOR OF THE HIT NETFLIX DRAMAS THE STRANGER AND THE WOODS, described by Dan Brown as 'the modern master of the hook and twist'

____________________________

Thirty years ago, a child was found in the New Jersey backwoods.

He had been living a feral existence, with no memory of how he got there or even who he is. Everyone just calls him Wilde.

Now a former soldier and security expert, he lives off the grid, shunned by the community - until they need him.

A child has gone missing. With her family suspecting she's just playing a disappearing game, nobody seems concerned except for criminal attorney Hester Crimstein. She contacts Wilde, asking him to use his unique skills to find the girl.

But even he can find no trace of her. One day passes, then a second, then a third.

On the fourth, a human finger shows up in the mail.

And now Wilde knows this is no game. It's a race against time to save the girl's life - and expose the town's dark trove of secrets...

But Wilds family!?

Loved the book but was hoping for a little tie up with Wild’s story/ repressed memories!?
None the less great story.

Fell headlong into this story!

I read The Match first not realising this was the first book and the above the sequel but they stand alone well. I’m thoroughly invested in the lead characters and will miss Wild and Hester Crimpstein!!! More please Mr Coben! Such great thrillers! And would make fantastic films too.

Back on form

I’ve read and now listened to almost all of Harlan Coben’s work and must admit the past few years have been a bit hit and miss for me but I really enjoyed this one.

And what’s not to like about Steven Weber?!

Another page turner from the Master mystery writer

Maybe not Harlan Coven's best but certainly a great read which kept you guessing right to the end. maybe too much unnecessary background and then the end slightly rushed. but very enjoyable read - now hopefully not too long a wait for the next book🤞

excellent performance from narrator this is the first time I've read Harlan Coben book and it won't be the last this book in particular I was very impressed with sub plot upon subplot and keeps you guessing to the end. highly recommended

Good story shame about the names

I enjoyed the story but was irritated by the cheesy names Crash and Dash of the significant characters. This alone has reduced my rating of this book. I did however like the characterisation of Wilde (good name in this case). I did see the plot twists coming
