Summary
Captain Gabriel Lacey accompanies famous dandy Lucius Grenville to Egypt, a land that Lacey has long anticipated visiting. Lacey travels there for more than a simple holiday, however - James Denis has tasked him with finding an "object" in Alexandria and procuring it, whatever the cost.
The task does not turn out to be so simple. Locating what Denis wants in the teeming city proves difficult, sending Lacey and Grenville exploring tombs and temples down the Nile. Lacey must deal with treasure hunters, a shadow following him and his friends, murder, and missing his new family as he explores the exotic country he has so longed to see....

Excellent!
Yet again, an exciting adventure. The characters developing with each book and the reading is truly excellent.
Ashley Gardner writes so well, all her books are gems.
How long until the next audio books?

Every book leaves you wanting more!
When another book becomes available I genuinely rejoice and relish every chapter of James Gillies ability to breathe life in to every well loved character! The writing is so superb that I will NEVER enter a tunnel, I felt I couldn’t breathe just listening!! As the book nears its end, I feel like old friends have left me and hope that it isn’t long until I meet them all again, for their next adventure!! Bravo!!!

It's Capt Lacy & cast of many characters...it's impossible to go wrong! Having been to Egypt. it was great to hear/read about the country after Napoleon put it back on the map...I just love this series!

could be a good story but the recording has issues
couldn't finish this book because of the bad recording- there is a muffle and growl sound in the background which kinda ruins this one...

Another adventure!
I have to say I thought this would be more about excavating for treasure. But of course with Lacey there has to be murder and intrigue!
An unexpected new member of the family. Many fights and Denis having orchestrated a lot even from a distance

Not My Favorite
I've been enjoying this series, and James Gillies' narration has been excellent, but this book is my least favorite so far. Frankly, it's just too ridiculous. Having been to Egypt, I can say that Gardner's depiction of it is a touristy Aladdin's tale. Sword and fist fights break out every time Lacey turns a corner, and then he and Grenville just happen across an undiscovered tomb full of treasure. Oh, and there are belly dancers. From the start I have found Grenville a more interesting and appealing character than Lacey, and have fantasized he and Donata were the main characters, with her playing a greater role in the mystery-solving. But that's just my personal preference. I'm ready to return to London.

I missed London!
I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as I usually do. I think I missed London and Donata. I was also put out with how he let "Marcus" get away with trying more than once to kill him. That was inexcusable. But still an enjoyable listen.
