Stepping off the train in Sweetwater Springs, Montana, Elizabeth Hamilton is filled with relief, nerves, and the thrill of hope. Life on her dear friend’s ranch will be very different than Gilded Age Boston’s high society. But at least here, Elizabeth is far from her spiteful sister-in-law and the bittersweet memories of her late fiancé.
Nick Sanders has loved Elizabeth since he first glimpsed her portrait - not that he dare admit it. A ranch hand has no call to woo a well-born lady, especially when she’s being courted by the town’s finest gentleman. Yet there’s something in her mix of courage and compassion that won’t let Nick quit.

As if he doesn't have enough to handle between running outlaws out of Cheyenne, keeping his brothers out of trouble, and avenging his father's death, Sheriff Sawyer McCade's meddling mother just dumped a mysterious mail-order bride on his doorstep. One woman can be more trouble than a band of renegades, and while this one has him all stirred up, he'd rather get to the bottom of the story she isn't telling. Rose Parker had it all - until a web of danger and deceit sends her running to Cheyenne posing as a mail-order bride. Escaping the evils of New York seems sensible until she meets the unsuspecting sheriff who didn't ask for her, has no intention of marrying her, and won't rest until he uncovers her secret and sends her back home.

It is December of 1792 when she arrives in a cold climate unlike any she has ever experienced. And she meets a man different from any she has ever encountered - a white man dressed like a native. His name is Nathaniel Bonner, also known to the Mohawk people as Between-Two-Lives. Elizabeth defies her father and shatters convention, but her ultimate destiny, here in the heart of the wilderness, lies in the odyssey to come: trials of faith and flesh, and passion born amid Nathaniel's own secrets and divided soul.

John Jake McCutcheon's story.
I really enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator used different voices for each character and it made it easier to tell who was speaking. John Jake McCutcheon has just graduated from medical school and is on his way to begin his career in Rio Wells, Texas, near his Uncle Winston McCutcheon's ranch. John's stage is attacked by Comancheros and he was cut on his face, making a dramatic beginning. When John meets his cousin Dustin there is a tenseness and you know there will be trouble between them. For those that look forward to each book, following the McCutcheon family, you will thoroughly enjoy this story. John's sister, Charity makes an unexpected visit and Brandon follows her, adding to the drama.

Loved Caroline Fyffe's Texas Twilight!
Would you consider the audio edition of Texas Twilight to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed the print book so much I was interested in listening to the audio version. I found this form to be delightfully entertaining, especially when my eyes are too tired to read any longer. I really thought Brant Bolton did an excellent job with all the characters especially the men. Although his version of Tante Harriett, Lily's edlerly aunt was delightful!
What other book might you compare Texas Twilight to and why?
I was an avid Max Brand reader years ago and this book reminds me of his style very much.
Which character – as performed by Grant Bolton – was your favorite?
Dr. John McCutcheon.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Definately had me on edge, but overall really brought out warm feelings, and a few tears.
Any additional comments?
I love Fyffe's easy descriptive style and wait for each new release. She knows how to create characters that brandish true grit and deep heart. Her books are uplifting, entertaining and have values that leave you believing in life and love! Thank you Ms. Caroline Fyffe!

THE DIFFERENCES IN MONTANA AND TEXAS
The second book in the McCutcheon Family saga and what a page turner with mystery, suspense, danger, angst, fear, determination, family and friends. While this is an ongoing series or saga, it will read well as a stand-alone story. The story will include Dr. John McCutcheon, the youngest son of the Montana bunch and how he will go to Rio Wells, Texas near his Texas kinfolks. It will also have plenty of his baby sister, Charity, who will also come to Texas for a surprise visit. The story will take the reader on an adventure of life in Texas for a doctor, a school teacher, and the dangers of Comancheros.
Dr. John McCutcheon has finished medical school in Boston, and because there already being two doctors near his family in Y Knot, Montana, he will apply and be accepted for the position for the town of Rio Wells, Texas. He has been told when he arrives that he will be taking over for the retiring doctor, have a residence in the upstairs portion of the building and his medical practice downstairs. Everything is supposed to be painted, clean, and ready for his arrival.
Traveling from Boston to Texas is a long and dirty journey. The stagecoach will have three men and three women as paying passengers, plus three employees. Just before getting to their destination, they will be attacked by Comancheros, and when it is over, two men and one female passenger, plus two male guards will be dead. John will sustain a deep facial cut, and one female passenger, Harriet, will be unconscience.
The story will have John and passenger, Lily becoming friends during the arduous journey, and then she will be the one who helps sew the sixteen stitches in his face. Being a seamstress gives her an advantage for making even and neat stitches.
The plot is full of mystery that will revolve around the stagecoach murders, a missing gem, overzealous fiancé, a sister, Charity, who does her own thing, her suitor from Y-Knot, Sheriff Brandon Crawford, and the Texas McCutcheon line.
Arriving in Rio Wells will come with shock and disappointment for several people. It seems the town has misrepresented itself about the doctor’s position and building. For Harriet and Lily, the money paid for a year’s lease on the shop falls through, and trouble is brewing in town. When a mean bounty hunter shows up, things get dicey for several people. This rather quiet and quaint town will have accidents and murders that have many people on edge.
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people. What happened to the man that Harriet paid for the lease of the building and what will she and Lily do for income if they can’t have the shop they leased? What will come of Charity and Theodore who instead of going to Denver, come to Texas to see John and what will her parents and Brandon think? Will John and the elderly town doctor work together and what does this mean for his future?
There is also a budding romance that is developing between John and Lily, and yet, John is technically betrothed to Emeline, and she is waiting to hear from him about moving to Texas. Just when things start to get interesting between John and Lily, Emeline shows up in Texas unannounced. He has no place that is his own, and when things became questionable in town, both Emeline and Charity will need to move to the ranch of his Uncle, Winston McCutcheon. Life has a way of working things out and learning that not everything is always black and white. Friendship will be formed; new romance will be in the works, understandings between longtime friends will be tested, tried, and found strong. The story has many intense and emotional scenes, some heartbreak, and enlightening moments.
NOTE: My husband and I listened to this book during a trip and we both enjoyed the story. The overall story by Ms. Caroline Fyffe and the narration by Grant Bolton. We are already discussing the next books in the series.

Another McCutcheon Hit!!!
If you could sum up Texas Twilight in three words, what would they be?
Exciting, spell-binding and fantastic!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Texas Twilight?
The very beginning when the stage was being attacked with John and Lily fighting off the bad guys. The dance where the guys were bidding on the women's dinners was so cute. The best one was at dinner when Dustin and John got into a fist fight. (Don't want to give away exactly why they were at dinner).
What does Grant Bolton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The story comes alive when having someone read it aloud. It's like watching a movie in my head. Hearing the different voices gives a real personality to each character.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I loved it! It was such a wonderful story about when times were hard but love between two people was just as complex as it is today. The plot had so many interesting twists and turns. Such a great story and wonderful addition to this series.
Any additional comments?
This is another hit by this author. The plot is well written, with so many twists that you don't see coming but it all comes together beautifully in the end. I love the idea of the McCutcheon family and how strong and close they are.
