Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

From award-winning actor and food obsessive Stanley Tucci comes an intimate and charming memoir of life in and out of the kitchen.

Before Stanley Tucci became a household name with The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games and the perfect Negroni, he grew up in an Italian American family that spent every night around the table. He shared the magic of those meals with us in The Tucci Cookbook and The Tucci Table, and now he takes us beyond the recipes and into the stories behind them.

Taste is a reflection on the intersection of food and life, filled with anecdotes about growing up in Westchester, New York, preparing for and filming the foodie films Big Night and Julie & Julia, falling in love over dinner and teaming up with his wife to create conversation-starting meals for their children. Each morsel of this gastronomic journey through good times and bad, five-star meals and burnt dishes, is as heartfelt and delicious as the last.

Written with Stanley's signature wry humour and nostalgia, Taste is a heartwarming story that will be irresistible for anyone who knows the power of a home-cooked meal.

Mangiamo!

I devoured this book.
Snr Tucci whetted then sated my appetite with the story of his life in food.

Engaging story

Nicely told story. A bit disappointing however to hear how his living on the breadline as a struggling actor (using charity donations from Actors Equity Fund) consisted of eating ‘out’ for most meals plus trips to bowling alleys and cinemas! Not exactly poverty, Stanley.

Glorious!

A dash of wit, a large helping of recipes, a generous glug of film star stories coupled with a smooth, rich voiced telling of this tale made it the perfect accompaniment for me as I travelled to Italy on holiday. Puns aside, it’s a truly beautiful balanced book that will make you smile, dribble and want to cook & eat in equal measure.

Engaging & heart-warming

I found this to be a very heart-warming and engaging and also beautifully narrated gastronomic memoir...Found Mr Tucci's foody journey elegant, touching and also humourous. Very classy, intelligent....and a wonderful voice for the narration.

Just fantastic

Wonderful. My favourite audio book to date. Brilliantly written with Stanley’s voice making the perfect narration. You’ll simply drool at the recipes. A great companion to his tv documentary on Italian cuisine. I want him as a best mate and to be invite to his house for dinner! 😂

Delicious!

Stanley Tucci’s book Taste sits somewhere between a recipe book and a memoir. If you’re reading that and thinking it won’t work, then prepare to be pleasantly surprised. He doesn’t just give you a range of delicious recipes, but also a story behind each, elevating your desire to eat them. He is a man who loves his food and it’s very easy to understand and feel that same passion as you progress from chapter to chapter.

If you know someone who has enjoyed his recent BBC TV shows, this is a must-buy for Christmas. In fact, pick them up some cooking equipment and prepare to get slowly larger throughout the year as they work their way through the recipes.
