About this listen
His career is in the penalty box. Her marriage is on the rocks. Can love score the winning goal?
My life just hit the skids, hard. After a drug scandal blew up in my face, I’m out of a team, my endorsements are gone, and my bank account’s pretty much empty. So now I’m stuck trying to sell my house to scrape together some cash. The kicker? I’ve got to work with Paige Anderson, the real estate agent with a smile that could light up a room—and the woman I made a complete fool of myself with not too long ago.
Paige has got it all together when it comes to selling houses, but her personal life? Not so much. Her marriage is on the rocks, and she’s doing everything she can to keep it from falling apart. The last thing she needs is to deal with a washed-up, scandal-ridden hockey player like me. But she’s gunning for that big commission, and I guess that’s enough to keep her in the game. Funny thing is, somewhere along the way, I end up being the one she turns to when things get rough.
I didn’t see it coming, but I start to catch real feelings for Paige. It’s a wake-up call that maybe it’s time for me to get my act together and start thinking about what comes next. But Paige has her own baggage, and she’s scared I’ll just end up hurting her like every other guy has.
If we’re going to make this work, we’ve both got to put our fears on ice and take a shot at something real. No guarantees, but maybe, just maybe, we can make it to our own version of a happily-ever-after.

Good overall with a few twists and turns
Paige (or Andy as Beckett calls her) is married to the older, somewhat controlling, Adrian when she runs into the charming, hot, player that is Beckett. Beckett is somewhat down on his luck having been involved in one too many scandals, Beckett, and to top it off he’s also been the victim of embezzlement, thus leaving him broke and having had his hockey contract ended. He and Paige sort of knew each other in college, but nothing ever came of their acquaintance.
This is a very slow burn, not my favourite type of romance, but it kept me listening so there must have been enough going on between the two characters to keep me hooked. The first quarter of the book is a bit disjointed as we charge through the reasons Beckett ended up where he is, and sets us up for why Paige has to get rid of Adrian. There are a few twists and turns in this, and a few unexpected plot twists which keep the intrigue going. I think Adrian was kept around far too long, which meant Beckett and Paige had to stay “friends” for too long (there is no actual technical cheating from the main characters). Beckett needed time to develop his character away from the playboy and although you would expect him to be the road bump in the relationship it was actually Paige.
I found Paige a bit annoying tbh, as every time things got tough she bolted and refused to face it. There was one particular bit with Adrian which really annoyed me, especially later when she played the scorned gf when Beckett hadn’t actually done anything ( spoiler - she was the one who actually did what she was accusing him of!!).
I loved Beckett as a character, he was a bit unpleasant for about five minutes at the beginning, but then became very likeable, very quickly. He was very patient with Paige and all her issues.
Both narrators did a great job, although it took me a while to get used to the third person pov.
Looking forward to the next instalment from T.J. who we hear about briefly in this book.

Slow-burn, hot romance at its best.
Beckett’s life is a whirlwind of professional hockey, women, money, and drugs… until it isn’t. A victim of scandal and embezzlement, Beckett’s hockey career literally gets put on ice.The need to raise money is urgent, so Beckett enlists Paige, a real estate broker to help him.
Paige is getting her home building business off the ground. Her husband is uninterested in her or her business. Eventually, her husband’s betrayal and behavior causes her marriage to implode.
Definitely gun-shy, Paige and Beckett become friends. The chemistry is undeniable, but both are letting the past dictate a possible future together. What happens when friendship develops into something more?
The writing is clever, sharp and completely engaging. The narrators are excellent and completely draw you into the story. The books in this series can be enjoyed as stand-alones, but when listened in order, there is extra context.
I highly recommend this whole series.

If you need a new sports romance, and/or second chance romance fix, check this out!
Taming Beckett is about Beckett Miller, NHL’s bad boy, who finds himself falling from grace over a high profile scandal. After losing his team and his endorsements, in need of a new start and some money, he lists his property on the market where he meets realtor, Paige ‘Andie’ Anderson.
Meanwhile, although Paige is highly successful in business, this success hasn’t translated into her relationships. After her husband cheats, she finds herself in the mist of a divorce and untrusting of men. Having Beckett as a client is risky. But the high commission she’ll get from the sale seems worth it.
What I loved most about Taming Beckett was that I felt the character growth of both Beckett and Paige. At the beginning Beckett is so down on his luck. He seems like the typical sports bad boy with a bad attitude to match. However, the more we get to know him and his layers are pilled back, the more we got to see that there is a lot more to him.
His growth was also very believable. Throughout the book, we got a peak into his past, his mind, why he acted the way he did, and how and why he would change. I genuinely loved him by the end. Paige was also a great character. Her struggles in trusting Beckett was also believable given the circumstances. I also loved how both characters were able to find themselves individually as well as develop their relationship throughout the story.
Speaking of relationship, I also loved how these 2 characters became genuine friends first and were there for each other, and slowly, this translates to their relationship. I could definitely see why their relationship would work.
Beautifully written, this book had me hooked from chapter one. I did not want to put it down.
This I s narrated by Marcio Catalano and Veronica Pace. They were excellent in this. Their narration brought the story and characters of this book to life. Highly recommend the audiobook.

Great start to the series!
Now this is a sports romance with some meat to it! If you love a good sports romance with a couple that is truly finding themselves, a second chance at love with a bit of a slow burn and a chemistry that is just off the charts, than look no further. GK Brady has it for you with her first book in the Playmaker series. Meet Beckett. Too big for his britches, as I would say, he is a hockey player who lets his success go to his head. Reaping the rewards had him crashing quick and reaching rock bottom had him suspended from playing. Now Beckett has some real world realities to face as his life, his finances and direction has taken a turn. Paige is the one that turned him down, but now as he is changing, and they are getting to know each other for real, things are beginning to turn around. Or are they? I loved this book! First, I love that Beckett is not glorified. He comes in, hits bottom and it's not easy to get back up. And then we have Paige/Andie, and she is working through her own set of problems. Making life decisions and overcoming pain is not easy and these two bring that out. GK Brady has a winner on her hands with this one, and I can't wait to see what is in store next.
Marcio Catalano is Beckett, and what a voice! He has that arrogance in the beginning, just as expected, but he changes as Beckett does. Love the inflections, and ability to make his humble. Veronica Pace is wonderful as Andie, her feelings on her sleeve, it is easy to feel the turmoil and pain she is going through. These two are an amazing team at bringing these characters to life and made this a fantastic listen.

Brilliant Story
This book is Fantastic!!! I have never read/listened to a G.K.Brady before and I am excited to say that I really can't wait to explore more of this series..I am already eager to dive into book two. I listened to the audiobook version of Beckett and Paige's story and I am so glad that I got the opportunity because Marcio Catalan and Veronica Pace are Phenomenal.I Loved listening to their voices recreate this story. They are so expressive and I was honestly mesmorised and could not stop listening to this book until the end. This is a Hockey romance like no other that I have encountered. Beckett plays professional Hockey and along with being a Hockey god there comes the fast lifestyl.Unfortunately for Beckett he embraces the wild lifestyle with no problems....Drink,drugs and women are his go to coping mechanism. Until an event happens that makes him rethink his life and how he has spiralled out of control...But its too late he literally loses everything his career and his money. Paige is married but the relatonship is more or less doomed Adrian(hubby) is very dismissive of her and her career..and its basically over. Anyway Beckett needs help with cash and wants to sell his house and Paige is the one he turns to to do just that. Paige and Beckett have met before in the past at college before he got famous and another time when he was really messed up and he did not make a good impression with her. But helping Beckett sell his house changes their relationship forever. I loved Beckett even though he was so messed up at first he really did everything to turn his life around and that is so admirable. The changes in him throughout the book just makes you fall for him even more. Paige is so vunerable in the begining honestly she allows Adrian her husband to walk all over her and she keeps giving him chances. But Paige changes too spending time with Beckett makes her realise her power as a woman. She is beautiful in his eyes and he is so supportive of her career path which gives her the courage to pursue it.Adrian never cared about her job or her ideas and he certainly never made her feel desired..she shines when she is with Beckett. I LOVED how Beckett and Paige become friends first long distance calling and video chatting wth one another spending time with one another that way. They build a good foundation for the possibilty for something more...But unfortunately Beckett's bad reputation as a ladies man seems to haunt him,it over shadows the fact that he has changed and Paige finds it hard to trust him especially since what Adrian did to her. But they both are incredibly attracted to eachother and want one another so when they are stuck in a Becketts Cabin for a few days lines are crossed and the steam and heat is explosive when they are together. But still Becketts reputation is hurting them and when a crazed obsessed ex appears back in Becketts life,it could break any chance of a relationship with Paige forever. Like I said I adored this book and could not wrench myself away from it even when life was telling me I had things to do...I didn't want to do them I just wanted to listen to Marcio Catalan and Veronica Pace bring Beckett and Paige to life in my ears. The writing by G.K.Brady was perfect in my opinion I loved her style and how she built her stories, there is ups and downs Angst, sad moments and funny sweet moments. There is some heartbreaking moments and conversations that did have me wiping away a few tears and the narrators executed the emotions and the events beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed Listening to every second, minute and hour of Taming Beckett and I highly recommend it. It was such a pleasure and joy to listen to. A Brillant and captivating book. 5 Stars

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt!
This is a fantastic sports romance novel, my first book written by G.K. Brady and I enjoyed her writing style and the story she created, it is original with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to care about too. Beckett Miller, a professional hockey player, took living the high life to a whole new level, a life of luxury, a revolving door of woman, booze, and drugs, which lands him in hot water with the law and with his team. Then everything comes crashing down on him, he was a liability to his team so they let him go, and if that was not bad enough, he loses his endorsements and after taking more hits to his pocket, he needs to downsize. Paige Anderson’s career is taking off in the direction she wants, her husband isn’t the most supportive of her job and her choices and with him working in London they are getting more distance. Something they could have worked on if he had not betrayed her. Beckett Miller shows up in her life again in the most unexpected of ways. She remembered him from back in her school days, though he did not remember her, which was obvious when he goes off on a rant mistaking her for someone else. She was a good sport about it, though he still wanted to make it up to her and wanted to use her to sell her properties. Paige does not fall at his feet like most woman, and he finds it refreshing. When she agrees to work with him, they get to spend some time together, he shows her a different side of who he is and he just likes what he sees in Paige. These two are dealing with their own issues, Paige’s are with her marriage and Beckett’s are with his lifestyle and choices he made in the past. His career on the ice may be over, but he is trying to be a better man, and he owes it all to Paige, despite her not knowing that. The chemistry between Paige and Beckett was sizzling hot, and it was great to watch them get to know each other, starting off as a work relationship morphing to a friendship and then so much more. It was also great to watch Beckett’s character grow and see all the goodness he had within himself. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a beautifully plotted story that has perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. G.K. Brady, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Marcio Catalano and Veronica Pace were the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life. They had a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. Catalano’s Beckett was spot on, grasping every side of his personality, from his pompous side in the beginning to this caring side and Pace did the same as Paige and was just as amazing. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, making you feel every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fantastic listen.

Brilliant book
Loved taming Beckett, with a bad boy persona and not seeing a problem with it until an unfortunate night changed his whole life he had to start from the bottom. The spice was great and the story was fascinating. There are trigger warning but it was still fantastic!
