About this listen

Cassandra "Cassie" Finsbury has spent almost 25 years running for her life, hiding from everyone who knew her and hoping it was enough to keep her daughter safe. When she learns that she no longer has to run, she is determined to find Daniela again and hires private investigator Bailey Davenport, a retired FBI agent, who is more than up to the task. Bailey finds nothing more irresistible than a mystery and a challenge, and in Cassie she finds both.

Can Bailey find the key to unlock more than just Cassie's secrets? Finn and Oz are pulled into the world of extremists and must keep their wits about them to survive a deadly game of cat and mouse whilst Finn's growing need to find the mother she believed dead takes her on a roller-coaster journey.

Ruined by the reading

My enjoyment of the story was completely ruined by the narrators over emphasis on even bland sentences. The story was on the edge of being too over the top anyway but could have been more believable if the reading had been more subtle and nuanced. The lack of English accent - let alone Manchester- for one of the central characters was lazy and unforgivable. Ms Bramhalls Norfolk based novels are much better I just hope that if and when they get performed they get better treatment

Excellent book

The story was excellent and engaging throughout its length.
My only criticism was the narrator she wasn't as easy to listen with as the narrator in ladyfish.

Good story

Good story but the narration was poor. Lady fish was done with a british narrator who did very good american voices unfortunately the narrator here was incapable of a british or any other accent other than american - shame would have been excellent with ladyfish's narrator.

Farfetched but nevertheless enjoyable thriller

In spite of its shortcomings this implausible thriller is still an enjoyable listen. However, it would be very much improved if Dara Rosenburg, the American actress narrating, was was able to speak in a British - or preferably a Mancunian - accent and also had a better range of voices to convey the various characters.

I am an Audiobookaholic! but I found this hard

As promised, my review after completing it. IT IS hard to get into, the narrator does really well to inhabit various characters, some narrators can ruin a book, but Dara Rosenburg does well. It probably took a while becauee there's not a lot of description initially. but it's a strong story, and doesn't give til almost the end of the book, just toward tge ends, all things come full circle and make sense. I rarely do spoilers, this is definitely not a book for spoilers. You need to dive in and get through all the pre-amble for it to make any sense, yes it's not one of those books you can skim through, each paragraph is revealing. Enjoy!

Good sequel

An enjoyable sequel to a good adventure. I’m pretty sure that it would have been more enjoyable with better narration though.
