About this listen
Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the hit Witcher Netflix show and video games.
Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers and lifelong training have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary killer: he hunts the vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. But not everything monstrous-looking is evil; not everything fair is good...and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.
Translated by David French.
Andrzej Sapkowski, winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement award, started an international phenomenon with his Witcher series. In this second collection of short stories, following the adventures of the hit collection The Last Wish, join Geralt as he battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike....

The story is great on it's own. But the Narrator simply brings it home. Everyone should listen/read these books. they are amazing.

If you like fantasy listen to this book
Loved this collection just as much as the previous one. Exciting, thought-provoking, funny stories, good overall story arc and superb performance.
I have played nearly all the Witcher video games and the stories have given the familiar characters and quests much more depth.
This one is staying in my collection.

compelling
one of the best books, if not THE best book, I have ever read, thoroughly entertaining. It has everything you could want from a story. genuinely finding it difficult to do it justice.

Quick review of Sword of Destiny
Struggled with the mermaid part, and Geralt romance with that one woman poet/musician. I feel Sapkowski focused a little too much on the dialogue in this arc which left me confused at parts with what was actually going on when listening.
Book was fantastic regardless, the beginning and end were borderline perfect, Peter Kenny as always delivering the best performance.
Better than the last wish? By a small but meaningful margin yes, if it weren't for Eithne.

Awesome
Although I see people saying this book is optional I struggle to see how. Even the stories that may not have a bearing on the greater narrative are enjoyable and the beginning of Geralt and his destiny is brilliant.

Geralt with a lisp?
The performance was shaky and its almost like the narrator is making fun of Geralt

Original compelling fantasy
I spent a long time reading fantasy when I was younger and thought I'd gone off it... I changed my mind after reading this!
The tales of Geralt the Witcher weave in old fairy tales in a totally original style. I enjoyed the first book 'The Last Wish' but I felt this was even better. Some of the stories are short and humorous and towards the end longer and more developed leading into each other. The writing style is intimate yet the pace is quick.
I loved Peter Kenny's voice and his characterisation which was never over done.
Sapkowski is a fabulous writer, and having Polish heritage, I am tempted to learn just so I can read the original polish versions and see what was lost in translation...
I will be listening to the whole series!

strange dialogue magnetic story
I think if I wasn't already invested in the characters from different media I would have struggled with this book. Geralts dialogue gave the impression he was reading from a thesaurus and this made me cringe a few times.
that being said I finished it very quickly and despite my shortcomings I find myself leaning towards blood of the elves quite strongly for my next.
as with most collections of short stories some are better than others. without going into to much detail the latter half of the book gripped me much more.
