Summary
Zauberer Prospero und seine Tochter Miranda sitzen seit Jahren auf einer Insel fest. Hier haben sie nur Gesellschaft von einem Luftgeist Ariel und Caliban, dem Sohn einer Hexe. Als ein Schiff vorbeikommt, erkennt Prospero darauf seinen Bruder Antonio, der ihm sein Herzogtum weggenommen und ihn fortgetrieben hat. Der Luftgeist Ariel lässt einen Sturm aufgekommen und Antonios Schiff strandet. Antonio kommt zusammen mit seinem Bruder Sebastian, seinem Sohn Ferdinand und einigen Matrosen an Land. Prospero gelingt es Ferdinand von den anderen zu trennen. Sebastian und Miranda verlieben sich ineinander. Caliban sieht in Prospero einen Feind, der unrechtmäßig die Herrschaft auf der Insel übernommen hat. Zusammen mit zwei Matrosen trachtet er nun Prospero nach dem Leben. Mit Hilfe von Geistern, die sich in Hunde verwandelt haben, kann er die Bedrohung jedoch abwenden. Schließlich treffen Prospero und Antonio aufeinander; Prospero vergibt seinem Bruder und erhält sein Herzogtum zurück. Antonio freut sich als Prospero ihn zu dem vermissten Ferdinand führt. Es bleibt jedoch offen, ob Prospero zusammen mit Alonso, Sebastian und Ferdinand nach Italien zurückkehrt.
