LIMBUS's employees are just as suspicious and ephemeral as the motives of the company, if indeed it could be called a company in the ordinary sense of the word. Supernatural murder mystery
This story is set in a contemporary context, where our heroine is a detective, but she is also half vampire. An ongoing mystery with all sorts of paranormal twists. It reminds me a bit of the author Laurall K. Hamilton--but different.

Just One More Thing...
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I loved Columbo. The TV show and character, of course. Raven’s newest partner, Levac, is a dead ringer for Columbo. Messy eater, trench coat sloppy, more intelligent than he projects. A perfect, quiet sidekick for Raven, who has her hands full keeping the supernatural hidden while investigating a supernatural crime. I like that she’s able to balance a personal life with her intensive work demand, albeit, usually late for anything social. Add a lover, Francois, in a rich, dark and spooky Chicago backdrop, and the story is a winner.
Suzanne Fortin has perfect pronunciation giving clarity and great cadence and voices. Great job there.
Going to be a great series!

Weak characters and world building.
What could Skye Knizley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
There's practically no world building in this book. It felt like we outright thrown into this fantasy world without much of an introduction. All the characters are also underdeveloped and unrelatable. I didn't connect with any of them and thus didn't enjoying listening to their story. More than a supernatural thriller, this sounded like a halfhearted romance.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Suzanne T. Fortin did a marvelous job with the narration. Each character had a distinct and believable voice and she emoted the different emotions well. She did well with the content given to her. It's the story itself that fails.
Any additional comments?
