Story
At a time when Humans were just starting to venture forth into the Galactic Union as mercenaries, Martin Quincy survived long enough to do something no one else had - he retired. There was only one problem: He got bored. Along with his old friend Kal, Martin joined Cartwright’s Cavaliers, humanity’s best merc company. Life was exciting! But he got bored. Again.

Being old and wise, Clunk knows there's a catch, but at first it doesn't seem too bad. He just has to help a freelancer pick up some cargo. Unfortunately, Hal Spacejock - the freelancer - is obstinate, over-confident, and woefully under-skilled, and he's never going to let a lowly robot fly his precious ship.

interesting characters!

Summary
Firstname Lastname is a no one with nowhere to go, with a name that is the result of an unfortunate clerical error and destined to be one of the only humans on an alien space station. That is, until she sneaks aboard a ship and joins up with a crew of repo men (they are definitely not pirates).
Now she's traveling the galaxy "recovering" ships. What could go wrong?

DNF - struggling to care about characters
There are 8 hours and 43 minutes left to finish this book and I have wrestled with returning this book or keeping on just a bit longer to see if the writing can capture my interest. At this point I am giving up. The story needs more clarity and smoother writing. Perhaps this is an editing issue - as if this shouldn't have been the final draft. Also, I don't care about the main character - a 17 year old female hacker who steals. The aliens are a jumble of physical descriptions that are hard to remember since they all get introduced around the same time. The conversations are interesting, but while sometimes they were amusing, there was no laugh-out-loud response from me. Mainly, the writing needed to be worked on a bit more to clarify things for the reader. The narration is okay. There was little distinction between characters. Everything remained at "arms length" and the book remained a disconnect from me, the reader/listener. I bought this because there was a recommendation from someone who liked In the Black which I also bought at the same time. I haven't listened to that yet. Hope that will be better.

Snarky and funny
Starship Repo is entertaining, often snickeringly funny, sometimes (intentionally) eye-rollingly corny, and never boring. It is not high literature, but it is engaging, with interesting alien characters who team up to rid the galaxy of deadbeat starship owners who cannot ignore their debts, even in the deeps of space. The sidelong glance the author sometimes takes toward our own political and social current events--so decried by some reviewers--is actually clever. The performance by Alyssa Bresnahan is excellent. Have some fun!

Great Read
Couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after reading author's previous book Gate Crashers. The book does a great job of walking a fine line between good drama and laugh out loud humor. I don't read much science fiction, but this one is great. If you like(d) Futurama you'll love this!!!
