About this listen
An ideal introduction for beginner and seasoned stargazers alike from the astronomers of the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
Astronomy expert Tom Kerss offers complete advice from the ground up, introducing the world of telescopes, planets, stars, dark skies and celestial maps, explaining the best ways to plan your stargazing experience and the key things to look out for on specific dates throughout the year.
Bridging the gap between human curiosity and the need for scientific expertise, Stargazing allows a complete novice to understand our place in the cosmos and enjoy the beautiful and extraordinary wonders of the night sky.
The accompanying short further resources booklet allows you to follow the star charts explanations on the audiobook.

‘… perfect for anyone looking to start a new hobby or simply have a better understanding of our Universe.’- Firetrench
‘This would make an ideal gift for any beginner to astronomy – recommended.’ Journal of the British Astronomical Association
What I would say is manage your own expectations, this is not my first rodeo and they is a lot of information to read out and get across.
Since I am learning at the moment a lot of the information went over my head but I do know from previous wanders into reference listening that it comes back to you later on when you put it into practice.
There was a little bit of repetition. I definitely know I need a red torch and plenty of warm clothing. (It’s an in joke, you will need to read the book)
All in all, I can recommend this book and I will read it again in the future after I have had a wee look at the stars.
