Narration doesn't match the story.
I read the Calder series back when it came out in the 1980's and loved it. This narrator's voice sounds like she's from Ireland or perhaps Scotland (?). She doesn't ruin the book and I didn't stop reading it only because I already knew how wonderful the book was, but it certainly down grades the overall rating the book gets in an audible.

Good book ruined by narrator
Goofy reading of western accents alternating from English Earl to hillbilly. This is a good story ruined by the choice of reader.

Mil Nicholson's ability is outstanding
The aurthor needs more research into the period she writes about. No woman before 1950 put their hair in a " ponytail ". This is an intertaining novel without thought to accuracy of the period. This is my second book about the Caulders. Not sure I will continue with book III.
