About this listen
Madame Jeanne Guyon was one of the most important figures of the 1600s-1700s, not only in France, but throughout Europe. The Reformation had ended nearly 100 years prior, but much of the world continued to believe that the common people could only approach God through priests. Mystics like Madame Guyon, Brother Lawrence, and Miguel de Molinos taught that each individual could come to God through the intimacy of personal prayer. This teaching branded them as heretics.
In 1862, Madame Guyon published Spiritual Torrents, which was a spark that led to the utter transformation of countless lives in France. When she published The Short and Easy Method of Prayer in 1685, these two books were considered so dangerous, that the Catholic Church sent priests and soldiers house to house to collect and burn them in the streets.
Yet their influence, and that of Madame Guyon continued to grow, and continues still. This audiobook is a Christian classic that has truly changed nations, and if you let it, it will change you too for the glory of Jesus! This edition includes a unique forward providing historical context about the historical and cultural impact of this audiobook, as well as details about the life of Madame Guyon.
