About this listen
Nothing could have prepared Caidence when her love - the man who saved her in more ways than one - left her.
The absurdity and terrible timing of the breakup left her confused and heartbroken, but with her already arduous internship, she was left with little time to cope. As far as she was concerned, distracting herself from her aching heart - instead of facing it - was working well.
But when Noah came into the emergency room with a deadly poison in his system, begging for Caidence’s help, how could she turn him down?
No amount of medical expertise could help her determine the poison, but time was running out, and Caidence was left with one option. She must get involved with the criminal affairs of Noah’s father - a man who was notoriously cruel and worse than even Noah’s murderous brother, Bruce.
With the help of Caidence’s best friend, she begins breaking every rule in the book to save the life of her former lover. But nobody could have anticipated the danger of her task, let alone the impossibility of obtaining the information she needs to save Noah.
Caidence will have to make an impossible choice - herself or the man she loves?

I am always on the edge of my seat during this.
You need to buy this book if you are looking for a book that will be on your mind for a month. I always know to wait until I have indefinite free time to read something from this author and this book was no exception. It never slows down and is always entertaining.

It has the potential.
Most books get boring if there is a lack of romance between the characters. But this one was all about potentially reestablishing a relationship in danger of being lost, so it felt complete without Noah taking part in it much. In fact, it was refreshing seeing all the things she could do by herself. If you want an awesome read that shows the strength of women, this is it for you!

I felt a deep connection with this.
I felt so connected to the characters just like book one and I love it! But the ending was too sad, especially with the lack of closure. I wish that I at least knew her decision, even if I didn’t know what came from it. I can’t wait to see what they do with the next book!

Let me start by saying that I like this series so
The badass characters and the dangerous plot is always a lot of fun. But there are downfalls. The characters trusted the bad guys in this book way too easily. I think what made this even more difficult to accept was that Caidence knew from the beginning that they were bad people! And it was really short.

Overall, it was a good one.
I am not a fan of first-person, but the fast-paced nature makes this better than most. I should have got the sample first to realize the first-person thing. But it was a good book and I would definitely buy the third one.

The only problem is present tense perspective..
The only problem is present tense perspective, which confuses me. Most books I read are in past tense, but the present tense kicked me out of the spell of the story a few times. But it was a really great and the lengths Caidence goes to save Noah is just extraordinary and I can’t wait for the next book.

It isn't so bad.
None of the characters have any dimension and are motivated by one goal each—no more than that. Characters are meant to be three-dimensional and have more battles that one at a time. Caidence is the only one with any diminution. While the story is really good, I wish I felt connected to other characters.

The book 2.
These books have been a wild ride from the start and I am obsessed with them. I can’t believe I am just now finding them. I listened to this one on my way to and from work for two days and I wish I would have had longer to listen. I am in love with their romance story and everything related to Caidence. I feel like I can empathize with her in a way that I can’t often do with other characters.

Overall, it's a great one!
The author throws impossible decisions in to make it more dramatic and the cliff hanger has me fidgety an hour later! This book is too much for me to handle and has my emotions on a roller coaster the entire time. If a book doesn’t have all my emotions on the edge of their seats, it’s no book for me!

Information is just given so fast.
I hated how the characters opened up their deepest secrets so fast to one another. In short books, I understand that everything has to happen more quickly, but everyone releases their deepest feeling and secrets so quickly. The book had a great idea, story, characters, and everything else.
