About this listen

It's no secret that we are living in the Digital Age. Technology companies make up seven of the world's ten largest firms by market capitalization. And the key to their success is the key to all modern organizations.

Jonathan Smart, business agility practitioner, thought leader, and coach, reveals the patterns and antipatterns that will help organizations from every industry deliver better value sooner, safer, and happier through high levels of engagement, inclusion, and empowerment. Through his decades of experience in the technology world, Smart provides business leaders with a blueprint for creating a world-class organization of the future.

Through Agile and Lean ways of working, business leaders can empower teams to improve production, grow together, and create better services for their customers. These better ways of working have overflowed from the IT department to every corner of successful organizations, taking root in every industry from aerospace to accounting, insurance to shipping.

This book is not about software development. It is not a book about the computer industry. This book is about applying agility across the entire organization. It's a book that will put you at the front of change and ahead of the competition.

The best book since The Phoenix Project!

I just couldn't get enough of this book. As someone who manages an IT department, this book left me excited every time I listened. It fills in many of the gaps in DevOps and provides a practical guide on how to approach implementing the ideas in your organisation. Brilliant, just brilliant!

It should be compulsory reading for senior leaders

This book is well written and contains plenty of real world, practical advice build up over years of experience by the authors but also by teams who have been on the journey.

After years of advocating the management techniques described I feel it should be compulsory reading for senior leaders. I wished i had access to this booked years ago as the authors put the arguments across much better than I ever have.

It will be interesting to see how well organisations who have adopted such management techniques fair in the post-Covid world. The new normal probably involves more remote working. Teams with old style command and control managers could be at a disadvantage. Agile business could thrive.

Business Agility 101

Really good overview of business agility, providing lots of insights and lessons learnt. Pulls together lots of different strands of agile thinking into a single coherent narrative, creating a excellent jumping off point to explore the topics in more detail. Well presented and engaging audio book.

Bringing it all together

Probably the best complete guide to small-a agile that I've read - what to lookout for that will send you down the wrong path and how to re-align your focus. So excellent that I ended up buying the print book as well!

good book but narration too flat

I liked the book, but I didn't like the narration, too flat. Also the chapters and sections are not named in the index and it's harder to orientate without them.
