About this listen

Slains Castle is a remote castle in the north of Scotland with shadowy links to Bram Stoker and Dracula. A castle with secrets. Big secrets....

Secrets, which are revealed in this unique collection of extraordinary stories. Written like a historical thriller, Slains Castle’s Secret History is a work of incredible historical fiction—everything within is set around real events.

A few tasty morsels to whet the appetite: What connects Slains Castle with the Spanish Armada of 1588? When a French secret agent visited Slains Castle in 1705 and 1707, how did he inadvertently influence the formation of the United Kingdom? What was the mysterious black rain of Slains? What happened when Bram Stoker, great-grand uncle of co-author Dacre Stoker, wrote Dracula under the shadow of Slains Castle? Why did Winston Churchill visit the prime minister’s daughter in Slains Castle just before his wedding? And much, much more....

Slain Castle

This is a brilliant book, it is well written and entertaining from start to finish. I wish all history books were written in the same way and style, History lessons at school would have been a lot more interesting. Peter Harwood's narration is excellent, can't recommend highly enough to anyone, either interested in History of Scotland or just for an entertaining story.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by Peter and leave this honest and voluntary review.

loved everything about this

I really loved this boo!

The style of writing, the narration, the variations of story and historical fact told in such an open and accessible way, it was perfect. More history books should be written this way with all of the facts covered but also exploring the very human aspects of events.

Peter Harwood has the perfect tone for this book, bringing out the fun of some of the events as well as the seriousness and their impacts on history. He lends the perfect sense of charm and openess to the way the history is told.

I was given this audiobook for free and have left this review voluntarily.

A great listen - and a brilliant history lesson!

A fascinating and engaging non-fiction historical audiobook, clearly written and well narrated, giving intriguing insight and detail into Scotland’s past and the difficult, often perilous, dealings between Scottish and English courts and their political figures. Highly recommended for anyone who would like to begin or indeed deepen their knowledge of Scottish history.
