About this listen

On a cold February night, the police find the third corpse on the quayside in the Pool of London, her body covered with flower petals and pearls. The killer walked away, singing.

When the cargo ship, Cape Farewell, sets sail, she carries nine passengers, one of whom is known to be the murderer. Which is why Superintendent Roderick Alleyn joins the ship at Portsmouth on the most difficult assignment of his professional career....

Sea voyages are never boring and in this story for one it's fatal. Yet the victim came as a surprise..

Excellent storyline as always

Anton Lessor is a good reader but his voice is a bit light for Inspector Alleyn who is described as having. A deep voice so I found him a little unbelievable. shame because I like the story. The unabridged version read by James Saxon is much better.

Reader a bit light

This was a pleasant listen, if somewhat dated in its attitude to women and homosexuality. Agatha Christie 'light' when you want something unchallenging to wash over you.

an easy listen

I have read this book and enjoyed the audio version. It is a relatively short book (abridged?) and is an interesting setting on a boat to Cape Town. Very old fashioned and therefore class conscious (snobby) but enjoyable light fare nonetheless.

Usual Ngaio Marsh very well read.

I would listen to Anton Lesser reading a telephone directory and enjoy it. this story is not one of Ngaio Marsh's best but it is read so well I still give it a very good rating.
