Mariano Antolín Rato (Gijón, 1943) es sin duda uno de los novelistas más renovadores y originales de la literatura española actual, Mariano Antolín Rato ha contado siempre con la atención entusiasta de crítica y lectores. Definido por Juan Cueto como "el escritor más moderno de su generación", que es la del 68, ha ganado premios como el de la Nueva Crítica (por Cuando 900 mil Mach aprox), el Fernando Quiñones (por Fuga en espejo), el Villa de Madrid (por No se hable más) o el Juan March Cencillo (por Picudo rojo).

Otras novelas muy celebradas suyas son Mar desterrado, Abril Blues, Botas de cuero español y Lobo viejo. Ha publicado ensayo y numerosos artículos en diarios y revistas. Traductor prestigioso, ganó el Premio Nacional de Traducción en 2014.
