Being hocked on the Dresden files is one thing but being filled in on all the small side plots brings the other books to life! The first and the last short story really help you to understand Harry and the void that is left when he isn't around to blow something up when required.

James Marsters is perfect for The Dresden Files.

This is a collection of all the short stories that Butcher has contributed to other books. They are all on par with the main books and fit into the narrative at different points.

It also offers insight into some of the other characters, mainly Thomas and Murphy.

If you're a Dresden fan, this book is is a must, if your new to Dresden, start with the Files books first.

Personally I've never been a big fan of short stories as I always want more background/storyline. However, as I'd just finished a marathon run with the final three books in the series and was having withdrawal symptoms, I was very grateful to happen upon this book and Working for Bigfoot, both of which I enjoyed and helped delay the final feeling of loss at not having any more stories to read!! I'd recommend it!

Considering how Changes ended. This feels like the perfect segue.

We see the impact Harry had on those around him, the way certain characters met and small moments that carried a lot of weight.

Like he was reliving his life as it flashed before his eyes. We also saw things he could t have known about. Or at least gave no sign that he knew about them.

It feels like the perfect place to pause between Changes and Ghost Story.

Already knowing the characters allowed for less time wasted on the getting to know u part which helped make this a nice easy listen. Good for when u don't really have the time to emerse yourself in a one of the bigger books.

Not a great short stories fan but

if like me you're working your way back through dresden after reading them the first time, you'll find this collection of tales lacks the pace and arc that a normal dresden outing does, purely because it's a collection.
that said, some of the tales are great- for me, Heorot and backup are great examples of pint sized dresden, with aftermath being a poignant end. roll on ghost story....
