Before he plucks up the courage to do anything about it, the King takes her as his mistress, and Ida needs Wimer's support to survive that dangerous liaison.
Although he is eventually reinstated in the Church, his problems with his religious superiors, and his love for Ida, will guarantee him a place in Hell, unless he can find land and resources to do something spectacular in the way of penance....
Based on a true story, this book is set in 12th century England, where religion and politics are the same thing; and a misstep can be deadly.

Very Interesting Listen.
Not my usual genre but this was a fascinating listen. Very well written and researched it gives a real insight in to 12th century Britain. Wimer is abused as a boy by his elder brother and is taken in to the church for his own good. Choices he makes over the next few years lead him in to a real roller coaster of a life. This book is a history listen as well as an entertaining story. Highly recommended for those who like historical novels. Brady Smith's narration is spot on and brings the whole book to life.

Entertaining and informative
Enjoyed the historical detail and believable characterisation. I would be interested in listening to more by this author

Dreadful narration
I was hoping that this book would have potential but I never found out. The narration was so bad it was like something out of ‘Allo ‘Allo and I just couldn’t listen to it. Very disappointed.
