About this listen

David was excited to be the new Vicar of the picturesque Hemsley. However, not all of his parishioners were impressed by his newfangled ways. Nonetheless, a determined David set about winning over the colourful townsfolk.

There was Lord Feversham, the Henry VIII look-alike; fiery Ted, who had fought with the Polish Free Army; Frank, the 80-year-old singing shepherd; and redoubtable countrywoman Eva. All had stories of hardship and sacrifice, friendship and love.

A good listen

I really enjoyed this biography of a country vicar moving to the Yorkshire Dales. A very gentle listen and well narrated.
