Summary
Welcome to the George Inn near London Bridge: a cosy, wood-panelled, galleried coaching house a few minutes' walk from the Thames. Consider this: who else has made this their local over the last 600 years? Chaucer and his fellow pilgrims almost certainly drank in the George on their way to Canterbury. Loved Shakespeare’s Local
I really enjoyed this book. An entertaining and informative story that made me want to set off on a pilgrimage to the George.
The narration was the best I’ve heard on Audible. Perfect. He made a good book even better.

Great social history
Smashing book and very funny when it needs to be. Another belting book by Peat Brown. I’ll be recommended.

Brilliant, just brilliant
I love this book, I’d heard about elsewhere and found it in audible. It’s a delightful journey into the history of a famous london pub, actually quite local to me. The tone is chatty, conversational, lighthearted. It’s is deeply researched and the love comes through.
