About this listen
Two stories from SUM: Tales from the Afterlives by David Eagleman.
In 'Descent of Species', read by Jarvis Cocker, you can choose whatever you would like to be in the next life.
In 'Microbe', read by Nick Cave, our bodies decompose upon death, and the floods of microbes living inside us move on to better places.
In SUM, David Eagleman entertains 40 fictional possibilities of life beyond death. With wit and humanity, he asks the key questions about existence, hope, technology and love. These stories are full of big ideas and bold imagination.
This release is one of 20 pairings of readings from the audiobook, which assembles a stellar cast of narrators who bring the scenarios of SUM brilliantly alive: Gillian Anderson, Emily Blunt, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, Jack Davenport, Lisa Dwan, David Eagleman, Noel Fielding, Kerry Fox, Stephen Fry, Clarke Peters, Lemn Sissay and Harriet Walter.

Wonderful way to ponder the human experience
Thoroughly enjoyable short pieces, articulated by two great voices. In the first, Jarvis Cocker takes you through a journey around metamorphic and experiencial themes. In the second, Nick Cave goes gives a Socratic view of life, weaving themes of deific wonder and existential impact. Utterly marvellous listening, with something to think about later too.
