Summary

In this work, Horace Rumpole returns to delight us with seven new cases. We find our hero jousting with the Devil, being wooed by a beautiful violin player, and even up before the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Bar Council.

That’s the way tell a funny story

The Rumpole books are fantastical well written with excellent use of language and incredibly funny. From a time before being Woke destroyed humour. If you want to laugh while listening to a cleaver plot, this is for you. Great narration too.

Excellent, only spoilt by chapter placing!

When the chapters were placed roughly an hour long on previous Rumpole books (often only a few minutes before the end of a story) there seem some sort of erroneous logic. However, the chapters of this story range from 25mins to over an hour in no sense whatsoever. a book of six short stories broken up into as many chapters would make sense and you wouldn't have to jump to pause at the end of each tale. Please sort this out...and fire you're editor!

Superb + sound levels are now fine

Some reviewers have complained about the sound levels. I conclude these must have been resolved. Timothy West’s excellent narration is crystal clear (as of June 2022). The six stories in this collection are, in the main, very enjoyable. The last one is particularly good. All hail Rumpole

Brilliant Entertainment

Timothy West perfectly brings Rumpole to life. Strangely I enjoyed the reading more than the full cast version. A wonderful escape in these troubled times.

Very Enjoyable.

Really good book read by Timothy West who for me will always be Rumpole. He even gets all the other voices just right. Highly recommended.

Timothy West is the Real Rumpole

Many have tried to take on the role of Horace Rumpole, but only Timothy West truly epitomises the character. This is The Real Rumpole. None of the overacting or other annoying traits when others try to convince us they're the cantankerous, down at heel, old hack. If you're looking to hear the true spirit of Mortimer's character, only this version is worthy of your ear.

Fun - volume request

Really enjoyed the stories and the reading, would just like a louder recording volume as I listen while doing other things and couldn't always hear even with phone volume on full
