Summary
This audiobook features dramatized audio performances by a full cast - featuring some your favourite Riot voices.
Discover an epic tale of magic, revenge, and an empire on the verge of ruin in the first ever novel set in the blockbuster universe of League of Legends.
Camavor is a brutal land with a bloody legacy. Where the empire's knights go, slaughter follows.
Kalista seeks to change that. When her young and narcissistic uncle, Viego, becomes king, she vows to temper his destructive instincts, as his loyal confidant, advisor, and military general. But her plans are thwarted when an assassin's poisoned blade strikes Viego's wife, Isolde, afflicting her with a malady for which there is no cure.
As Isolde's condition worsens, Viego descends into madness and grief, threatening to drag Camavor down with him. Kalista makes a desperate gambit to save the kingdom: she searches for the long lost Blessed Isles, rumored to hold the queen's salvation, if only Kalista can find them.
But corruption grows in the Blessed Isles' capital, where a vengeful warden seeks to ensnare Kalista in his cruel machinations. She will be forced to choose between her loyalty to Viego and doing what she knows is right-for even in the face of utter darkness, one noble act can shine a light that saves the world.

Great for a League of Legends Novel
Well written and well preformed. It may even trick you into thinking the world of League of Legends is worth playing.
It isn't.

Absolutely better than I would have imagined
This was such a good listen. Firstly the story is gripping and keeps you engaged the whole way through. Plenty of twists and character development that is believable and relatable.
The readers are also very good and after only a few mins I was totally hooked in!

Miscast but interesting tale
Very hammy, shouty acting and random accents detracted from a decent romp through a fantasy world. Got the feeling the director gave up trying to rein in the actors’ worst instincts.

Immersive and epic.
Superb quality and breadth of performers and performance delivering an epic tale. A real labour of love by the producers going so many extra miles to deliver a triumph of world building. Superbly written and performed. Hoping for more of this for Runeterra.

Amazing book
You do not need to know anything about League of legends to listen to this book. The story by itself was amazing and the narrators did a fantastic job with their characters. This is a book i will listen to again as it has been on my mind many times after reading it.

Ruination: A League of Legends Novel - a surprise
Initially, I wasn't sure what to expect, but this novel has surpassed those expectations in more ways than one.
The Performance was a pleasure to listen to. The production quality was fantastic, featuring multiple narrators, each bringing a unique flair and depth to the characters they portrayed. This enriched the narrative and added a layer of immersion that elevated the entire experience.
Plot-wise, at the outset, I was bracing myself for a ride through a typical fantasy landscape with a predictable outcome. For a significant portion of the book, that assumption held true, which explains my rating of 4 Overall stars, Performance of 5 stars, and a 3 stars on the Story. However, the story took an unexpected twist towards the end that I did not see coming. This was a refreshing change that made me appreciate the book more.
As a former player of the League of Legends game, I found it interesting to dive back into the world, despite being unfamiliar with some of the newer characters featured in the novel. Importantly, one does not need to be a player of the game to grasp the storyline of this book. The narrative stands on its own, introducing and developing characters and settings in a manner that is accessible to newcomers.
The world-building within the novel was particularly impressive for me, and it was genuinely heartwarming to revisit the universe I had once been so immersed in through the game. It gives an extra layer of satisfaction and anticipation when you recognize a name or place. Yet, I can't help but wonder if this experience is as rewarding for readers who aren't familiar with the game. For them, certain references or the depth of the world might not resonate as strongly, which could be viewed as a drawback.
In summary, Ruination: A League of Legends Novel is a solid and enjoyable read (or listen, in my case), offering both familiarity for fans of the game and accessibility for newcomers. Despite a somewhat predictable journey, the unexpected conclusion and high-quality narration make it a worthwhile adventure.
Would recommend it to fans of the game and fantasy enthusiasts looking for a fresh spin on familiar tropes.
