About this listen
Eine wundervolle Erzählung, großartig interpretiert von Anna Thalbach.©Gemeinfrei (P)2014 Audiobuch Verlag OHG
Heinrich Seidel was a German engineer and author, who is also quite well known for his fairy tales.
His novella Rotkehlchen (robin redbreast) is a cheerful and warm hearted Christmas story, which was first published in 1899.
A 32 year old bachelor, Herr Dusedann, who is also quite a bit of a hoarder, has lately turned into a great admirer and collector of birds. Now, he has set his eyes on a talking parrot and hopes to convince the owner, an old guy living in poverty, to sell the clever and beautiful specimen to him. But he gets much more, than he bargained for and is in for a Christmas like no other.
The German actress Anna Thalbach (The Downfall, The Baader Meinhof Complex) delivers a hugely enjoyable narration.
A lovely classic and on the Project Gutenberg website, you can find the accompanying text for free, which offers the chance to read and hear the story at the same time.
Cheerful and warm hearted German Christmas classic
