Summary

Afterword by Alzheimer's Research UK.

Remember Me? is a memoir about caring for a parent with dementia and the memories that resurface in the process.

In her first book, Shobna Gulati sets out to reclaim her mother's past after her death, and in turn, discovers a huge amount about herself and their relationship.

Remember Me? captures the powerful emotions that these memories hold to both Shobna and her mother; secrets they had collectively buried and also the concealment of her mother's condition. What ensues is a story of cultural assimilation, identity and familial shame.

A fascinating read, loved it !

Shobna really takes you along for the ride, such an honest and brave account of her life growing up and dealing with her mum’s dementia,
I took a lot from it and found it helped me look at myself in ways I behave and react....a must for any bookshelf or audible library.

A life changing book: intimate, funny & moving

I loved hearing every word of this boom. Shobna is so inspirational, honest and hilarious. The way we are taken on a journey of her mums condition - supplemented about her own background was perfectly executed. Her reading voice and the impersonations made this book come to life. I am going to recommend this to all of my friends and family as we need to talk more about this discussion of health , but also appreciate Shobna as an actor in the UK. It was both impressive and hilarious in equal measures. Highly recommend.

Compellingly

An insightful journey into the memories and stories that make the bond between mother and daughter.
Shobna reminds us that we are all storytellers and her story encourages us to remember our own.

A healing must read

We all experience grieving in society although we rarely speak of the inevitable.
This is an enlightening journey spoken with truth and compassion. That is what enables our healing, understanding and solidarity.

Emotional

I loved it. The way Shobna explained the early signs of dementia helped me understand what my own father went through. Forever grateful to Shobna for sharing her very personal story.

Incredible

Shobha reads this beautifully. As a listener you really benefit from hearing the personal elements of the narrative in the sounds of her childhood and adulthood in the songs, accents, impersonations, jokes and heartfelt memories.

real, raw and honest..please please have a read!

Shobna has touched the lives of asian girls, changing the narrative of a poverty stricken town of oldham. This has definitely been exciting and a heartfelt account. so raw and honest. we all see snippets of our own mother.
