About this listen
Christmas elf Tinklebelle Holly is a screw-up. Demoted to a job in the reindeer division after one infraction too many, she hates her job, hates her life, and despises the North Pole.
But when a surprise visitor arrives from Elven High Council and Tink is assigned to show him around, everything changes. Jax Grayson is a dark elf, and unlike anyone she’s ever met. Looking past his obvious hotness, Tink knows he has a secret, and the audit he’s supposedly performing doesn’t feel legit.
After an unexpected tragedy occurs, Tink’s life is thrown into even greater turmoil, and it seems like Jax might be the only one Tink can truly trust. Can she help him figure out what’s happening on the North Pole, or will Jax be her worst mistake of all?

A twist to a Christmassy Story
I was provided this audiobook for free in return for an honest review.
Rebel without a Claus is a great little mystery for those ready to get into the Christmas Spirit. It follows Tinklebelle Holly, a clumsy elf who means well yet always seems to find herself under the other elves' scorn. After losing her job working with the reindeer, Tinklebelle is given a special assignment of showing around Elfin Council dark elf member, Jax Greyson. But when strange things start to happen Tink needs to decide whether to trust or even rely on him.
I wasn't too sure what I'd think of this book when starting it and didn't hold out too much hope when it started with reindeer talking and making disgusting remarks, but I'm so glad that I sat through the first chapter as the rest of the story was really entertaining. Tink and Jax are very quick characters to like and bond with, the other characters around them also provided great entertainment like Reindeer elf Puck, Tink's childhood friend and lovable sleazeball Frank and Tink's ex-boyfriend Win.
Narrator Abigail Drake did a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life with a voice and style all of their own and her own understanding of dialogue which I think I would have been a little confused about if I were reading by myself.
I wasn't a huge fan of the personification and sexualization of the reindeer....a little too weird for me but easy to be overlooked with the rest of the story as Tink and Jax continue their journey to solve the mystery. I enjoyed this book and would like to read the next one to see what comes next as the ending did leave me a little unsatsfied despite a good twist in the tale.

A Very Different Christmas Story!
I found this book quite fascinating. It was the North Pole and Christmas with elements of darkness. Definitely a modern twist, including breaking gender boundaries, dealing with traditionally human issues and so forth. Except these characters are elves and mostly Christmas elves, at that. At the risk of being cliché, I am used to Christmas elves having clean as driven snow reputations. This book definitely shatters those preconceived notions!
Christmas elf Tinklebelle Holly teams up with Jax Grayson is a dark elf to solve a murder mystery at the North Pole. Something big is brewing under the surface and it takes these two to learn to see beyond their outward appearances and to rely on each other. Each time the plot seems to be leading to the truth, the story takes another twist.
The story is well narrated and easily captures the listeners attention! I am so glad it is book one of the series. These two characters need to go on more adventures!!!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Five Festive Stars
I downloaded Rebel Without a Claus as an audio book and what a book to start my listening journey with! I couldn't think of a better way to pass the time at work by allowing myself to be carried away to the magical and marvelous, even if sometimes dangerous, world created by Abigail Drake. The author has made the magic and mystery of Christmas her own and I had the book finished within 3 days.
This festive story takes what you think you know about elves and the North Pole and twists it right onto its head and gives you the merriment of Christmas mixed with heartbreak, secrets, mystery, and death. There are some laugh out loud moments as we join Tinklebelle Holly on her journey to proving herself worthy of a promised promotion and learning more about what's led her to this moment. However, as we soon learn, things never go to plan and are never dull when Tink's around. Then we have the mysterious Jax who is a dark elf that soon finds himself also unable to resist the charm of this crazy elf who has possibly been misunderstood by others around her for quite some time. Throw in several elves with amazingly creative names, naughty reindeer, and a surprise twist from Santa, and you have yourself a must read that's not just for this Christmas, but for every Christmas thereafter.
