This book has changed my outlook on life and the way I function in my relationship with my partner, my children and others. It has been an absolute life changer, I know it sounds cheesy, but this has changed my life and relationships for the better, forever!
He doesn’t mess around about mentioning our personal responsibility, and the lies we consistently tell ourselves and others, but also helps us know how we can move passed that.
“Live with the pig and like it, live with the pig and hate it, or leave the pig!” (Leaving the pig carries its own consequences though and should not be taken lightly / be a last resort, but Greg will explain more about that as you listen / read the book.
I can’t recommend this book enough, and am going to listen to more of Greg Baer’s books now!

Not sure this is real love
Although I like the message of showing more love in relation to other people I couldn’t help but feel a hidden agenda throughout the book.
By the end, that feeling had increased to a “cult-like” feeling. Little creepy.
I’ll walk away with an openness to some of the ideas, but won’t follow them blindly.

If Ned Flanders wrote a book about love...
I'm not sure how many stars to give this book. The good is really very good but the bad is also really, really bad.
First the good: certainly there is a lot here about the source of conflict in relationships. What "real" (by which I think the author means unconditional) love is, and how to get it, and (more important I think) how to give it. The strategies and steps are clear and simple. The catch phrases are easy to remember (eg"getting and protecting behaviour"). I will personally be trying some of the strategies, and while I can't yet add to the already copious successful examples in the book, I have expectations that they will work.
Here's the bad: it is so sanctimonious. I imagine the author is very Ned Flanders like, and it's all very nice, wise, wholesome and perfect and all, I find it very annoying. Was it Churchill who said that someone with no vices will sure have some pretty annoying virtues? So yes... the annoyance is my problem but it may not be just me who experience this. While the author is keen not to judge, there are definitely "wise men" who can provide "real love" and the rest of us who struggle and fail and get into a lot of trouble in our pursuit of "imitation love". There's definitely a disapproval of use of drugs, and disavowal of sex outside marriage (you will never know if your partner's love is real love or imitation love if you have sex!). Then there was a case study about a man who was annoyed with his partner because he came home to an untidy house and no dinner even though they previously agreed that those were her responsibilities. I did roll my eyes at many of the case studies, and I couldn't go on after the last example.
But all in all, many people will probably find this book useful, and most people will probably not be as annoyed by the bible study tone of this book as I was....
