Summary

Born into wealth and privilege, free-spirited Liv Prescott left it all behind when she realized there was more to life than living off of trust funds and barely skating by. Since then, she's worked and fought for everything she's earned and never looked back at the world or the family she left behind.

Jackson Reid is starting over with a new job in a brand new city. A single father to his son Noah, he hopes the change will help strengthen the bond that has seemed to suffer since puberty reared its ugly head. What he hadn't planned on was Liv - his exotic next-door neighbor who drives him insane with her wild, new age lifestyle, but still manages to leave him aching for more.

As challenges arise and feelings intensify, will these neighbors be able to look past their differences and find a middle ground? When love comes knocking, will they be ready, or not?

Loved this book! Written and narrated so well. Enjoyed it from beginning to end. Didn’t think I’d enjoy the southern accent so much!!

Lovely story

A sweet slow burn romance. Easy enjoyable read. I cannot imagine a mother like Noah's mum. She is one piece of work. Love the ending.

Actually... 0.5. Painful!

What disappointed you about Ready or Not?

It was sooooooo Predictable... There was no exciting story line. Just a girl with daddy issues and a single dad who somehow "got her". I gave up with 2 hours to go on the story. I just couldn't waste my time listening to it anymore.

What was most disappointing about J.L. Berg’s story?

See above.

What didn’t you like about Craig Jessen and Laura Jennings ’s performance?

I liked Craig Jessen's voice and the souther drawl but he read WAY TOO SLOW! On the flip side, Laura Jennings read too fast. I found myself constantly adjusting the play speed so that it would be a bit more tolerable to listen to. Also, Laura did a horrible job with the steamy scenes.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ready or Not?

I'm not sure. So many of the scenes were just dumb. There were times when Olivia would get upset about something really stupid and I'd find myself feeling like I missed something. Talk about drowning in a cut of water. Sheesh...

Loved this series! Felt all them feels!

this was my first experience with this author. she is awesome. about to start another series by her. the male narrator was dreamy. the female was inconsistent. sometimes she was fine, other times forced and robotic.

Least favorite of series

Female reader sounded robotic. Difficult to enjoy story. I would rather have heard the entire story by the male reader.

Love in every way

I liked the storyline immensely, not your typical love story. It was real lifelike- emotional, humorous- I found myself laughing out loud.
The narrators were superb- I loved Craig Jessen’s accent and tone of voice. Thank you for sharing this amazing story, it sounds reminded me of my own life story.

Potential Not Realized

The story line had potential but I almost didn't make it past Chapter 10 b/c the female narator was so bad. After finally getting to the end my only question was "is it just me, or did the author hit every stereotype on the Brazil lover and exotic mom?". By the endof book the lover was an abusive criminal and the exotic biological mom was a greedy criminal as well. All of the "other" characters were dark, bad and criminal but the beautiful blonde people reigned supreme! Thisn otherization turned me off this author.

Good

The backstory and banter led to a very romantic slow burn. The writing is professional and interesting. I enjoyed the story and narration ... EXCEPT forthe female narrating her part of the sex scenes, it was bad, like a child reading in a weird tone. I learned to skip.over those parts because they were anythingbut sexy. .

Liv's character kinda disappointed me too ( just a little). She kept saying she made ot on her own, but a women who is given a free home and doesn't have to pay rent or mortgage payments has a HUGE leg up, so please cut the false self-reliance pride. Also, I get tired of the FMC having to be drop dead gorgeous and all her friends are beautiful celebrities... those women are easy for men to fall for and overdone to the max. What I wouldn't give for how an average man fall for an average gal seeing her as a beauty over time. Oh well that's not romance novel reality is it. Hence, minus 1 star.

Still this books excellent writing makes it stand out among the rest.

It was just boring. I tried but didn't finish it.

Not sure if it was the narrators or the story, maybe a little of both but it was slow and boring.
