Summary
You have two options. You die, or you Qualify.
Sixteen-year-old Gwenevere Lark is determined not only to Qualify but to rescue her entire family.
If you are good enough to Qualify, you are eligible to compete in the brutal games of the Atlantis Grail, which grants all winners the laurels, high-tech luxuries, and full privileges of Atlantis citizenship. And if you are in the Top 10, then all your wildest wishes are granted...such as curing your mother's cancer.
There is only one problem. Gwen Lark is known as a klutz and a nerd. While she's a hotshot in classics, history, science, and languages, the closest she's come to sports is a backyard pool and a skateboard.
This time she is in over her head, and in for a fight of her life, against impossible odds and world-class competition - including Logan Sangre, the most amazing guy in her school, the one she's been crushing on, and who doesn't seem to know she exists.
Because every other teen on earth has the same idea.
You Qualify, or you die.

Brilliant, but not written by a musician
I love this series, but the author obviously has no musical knowledge. Please speak to a musician and rework that sharps and flats bit - a G sharp for example is the same as an A flat, so splitting the factions into these categories makes no sense!!! I'd suggest using two additional modes (types of scale) e.g. dorian/mixolydian, or splitting into four types of chord.

So bad....
Over the top stereotypes. Contrived and unconvincing story progression. Annoying inconsistent protagonist. Good premise.

more space between teens needed .
The tech. Ace.
Brutal storyline.... Yes. And clever twists.
Apart from so much superficiality about people I nearly puked!
Hope there is way less of that in the next book. ..like none. Will still be listening to next because the story is interesting still.

Huge fan of this series
Been waiting for this since it was announced back in the summer. Thought Sofia Willingham is an excellent choice as narrator- can’t wait for the next book in the series to also be brought to life.

Well paced and reminiscent of the hunger games with enough novelty to keep you engaged
I’ll be getting the next book after I post this review, I’m invested in all the characters and want to see how the story plays out. It’s very much an echo of the hunger games but that’s not a bad thing.

Underwhelming
The concept is intriguing but I haven’t managed to get through it all.
The writing is quite poor, if feels like the writing level of a 15 year olds Wattpad. The authors portrayal of young people is really disconnected from reality, her attempts at describing POC really made my skin crawl. There were many plot holes, (Spoiler alert) the idea that the protagonist has this incredible voice that’s been lost through the ages yet her siblings say it comes close to their mothers, who to the readers knowledge wasn’t a world renowned singer, It’s just very fetched. A lot of the key ‘wow’ moments fell flat and honestly knowing that there was 50+ days to the qualifiers but 12 hrs are spent describing the first 5 days of training just made me want to scream “GET ON WITH IT”. It’s honestly just quite disappointing, this could’ve been a wonderful series to get into.
