About this listen

The Pimsleur® Method: the easiest, fastest way to learn a new language. Completely portable, easily downloadable, and lots of fun. You'll be speaking and understanding in no time flat!

Hebrew Level 1, Lessons 26-30 builds on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension and on learning to speak Hebrew. Reading lessons are included at the end of lesson 30 to provide you with an introduction to reading the Hebrew alphabet. These lessons, which total about one hour, are designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. A reading booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)

Very well put together Hebrew reading course

on top of the usual Pimsleur set of lessons 26-30, which also contains some useful expressions for getting natives to explain and help you with meanings in their language.

The actors have nice clear voices once you get used to how the sounds work and what is a Ch and what is a H and what is a L.

Needed to be used with printed matter!! :(

What would have made Hebrew Phase 1, Unit 26-30 better?

Unlike the units that preceded this last one in Phase 1, this one made reference to printed matter - even though at the start we get a long speech about how we must not look at or try to write any Hebrew on this course. I found this very frustrating.

Has Hebrew Phase 1, Unit 26-30 put you off other books in this genre?

No, I like this way of learning what I'm finding to be a challenging language to learn.

Which character – as performed by the narrator – was your favourite?

Not applicable - this is a learn to speak Hebrew course.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hebrew Phase 1, Unit 26-30?

The ones that make reference to printed matter.

Any additional comments?

Having reached the end of the first 30 units I am frustrated that I have no record of what's on which unit, so if I want to go back and revise some part, I am unable to find it as there's no reference point for me to know what's on which unit.
: (

I've had to listen to many chapters before now just to try and find a section I wanted to revise. I was not a happy bunny : (
