About this listen

Winner of Romantic Novel of the Year, 2008

Petra Flint and Arlo Savidge were teenage sweethearts in a chaste, old-fashioned way. They never really told each other how they felt.

Now, years later, Petra is a jeweller by day, but by night she is a sleepwalker, never fully able to rest. Arlo is living in North Yorkshire, teaching at an eccentric boys' boarding school. Like Petra, he carries with him something that makes it hard to sleep at night.

In an ice-cream shop one rainy day, Arlo and Petra stand before each other once again. Is this their second chance? Isn't old gold as good as new? However, for love to blossom, they must finally put their pasts to bed - a past Petra can't quite remember and a past Arlo wants to forget.

Jewel of a Listen

I really enjoyed this lengthy listen on my journey to and from work each day. The heroine is believeable as Freya's characters tend to be, and as a lover of gemology I could tell she'd done her homework though don't worry that this is a book on the technical aspects of jewelry making because , put quite simply , it is a charming tale of first love .yes there are times when you feel you could bash the two main characters heads together because they get 'the wrong end of the stick' about something but this is how life is,this is how relationships are. So do Arlo and Petra live happily ever after ? Will her sleep walking get her into lots of trouble ? What tragic thing happened to Arlo's ex. You'll have to listen and find out.

Totally gorgeous

One of the nicest, most credible and grown up listens so far. Wonderful central characters that you can care about, and a nicely paced narrative that exuded warmth

story might have been ok with a different narrator

This was really not the right narrator for this book. It felt like a school teacher was reading sex scenes to me and the male characters posh accents didn’t suit the characters at all. All very uncomfortable.
