Summary

For the first time in unabridged audio download comes the perennial classic from Stephen King - timeless and topical.

The house looked right, felt right to Dr Louis Creed. Rambling, old, unsmart and comfortable. A place where the family could settle, the children grow and play and explore. The rolling hills and meadows of Maine seemed a world away from the fume-choked dangers of Chicago.

Only the occasional big truck out on the two-lane highway, grinding up through the gears, hammering down the long gradients, growled out an intrusive threat. But behind the house and far away from the road: that was safe. Just a carefully cleared path up into the woods where generations of local children have processed with the solemn innocence of the young, taking with them their dear departed pets for burial.

A sad place maybe, but safe. Surely a safe place. Not a place to seep into your dreams, to wake you, sweating with fear and foreboding.

Utterly terrifying

One of the all time best horror stories ever written. Michael C Hall’s narration is excellent, especially his mastery of Judd’s Maine accent. 5 stars all round.

Michael C Hall makes this

I’m not the biggest fan of King’s work, from my experience. I absolutely adored Carrie, but that’s been about the only book that I’ve been able to get through other than this one and I’ve gotta say that’s largely due to the narration.

Michael C Hall reads this beautifully. His voice is like butter.

If you’re wanting to listen to an audiobook for the first time and are interested in King’s work then I would definitely recommend listening to Pet Semetary.

The story is decent and maybe I would have liked it more if I hadn’t have seen the terrible film adaptations. Who knows.

But I fully recommend listening to anything Michael C Hall does.

A classic Stephen King with an excellent narration

This book exemplifies how King gets so many things right in his story-telling - the right amount of foreshadowing to show you how the threads come together, letting the reader know what's happening just before the characters do, well-paced so that by the time the weirdness is amped up to bizarre levels you're ready to accept and revel in it.

That being said - and no spoilers - the recent film makes a significant change in the plot that I think is a better and more satisfying turn than the orignal novel.

The narration by Michael C, Hall was excellent, I really enjoyed his performance and hope he does lots more book narrations!

Classic King

King does not write quick reads, but they are worth the time. This is no exception. Why? Because you will be rewarded with great characters, landscapes familiar and alienating at the same time. With such attention to detail, one becomes emerged in the place, and captured in Kings grasp. In Pet Sematary you will come to be part of Louis family, and experience their fate alongside them.

If their is a criticism of this novel (Spoiler alert) it’s because we never find out what happens to the daughter. That’s all I can find to nitpick. One his better books and well worth your time if you are a king fan, and a good one to start on if not

My 1st audiobook

This was my 1st audiobook I’ve listened to and always liked the title. I work with pets and do a lot of walking wanted something to keep me entertained and Boy was it entertaining I blazed through it in a few days. Michael c. Halls narration kept it very interesting with different voices for different characters helped knowing exactly who was talking. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes spooky stories.

classic book read to perfection

Wow! Loved this so much, such a great book. Even in the 35 degrees heat on holiday by the pool, it gave me goosebumps. And Michael C Hall acts it out tremendously, the best I've heard so far using Audible. I shall be seeking out every book that he's done. I'm a huge fan of the TV show Dexter and Michael's voice is perfect for horror novels.

Incredible and chilling. Loved it. Combines realistic and supernatural horror. Felt real dread and could not put it down. Brilliant from beginning to end.

So so so much better than the movies!!

What a great story! I have always loved Stephen Kings ability to make you feel like you actually know the characters their personalities and idiosyncrasies. The story is a superb read and i would recommend to anyone.

One of the best parts about this book is the narration. What a story teller Michael C Hall is I only wish he had narrated more books!
