Summary

In the thousand-sun network of humanity's expansion, new colony worlds are struggling to find their way. Every new planet lives on a knife-edge between collapse and wonder, and the crew of the aging gunship, Rocinante, have their hands more than full keeping the fragile peace.

In the vast space between Earth and Jupiter, the inner planets and the Belt have formed a tentative and uncertain alliance still haunted by a history of wars and prejudices. On the lost colony world of Laconia, a hidden enemy has a new vision for all of humanity and the power to enforce it. New technologies clash with old as the history of human conflict returns to its ancient pattern of war and subjugation. But human nature is not the only enemy, and the forces being unleashed have their own price. A price that will change the shape of humanity - and of the Rocinante - unexpectedly and forever....

Still loving this series

Wasn't too sure when it set out whether I was going to enjoy this or not but damn so interested to see where this goes! Great book, great narrator as always! And a great addition to the series

Amazing

Amazing continuation of the series. Each book gets better and better. This one expands the scope even further, I can’t wait to see what happens next and uncover all the mysteries so cleverly constructed. Jefferson Mays is, as always, sublime.

Gripping as always, until incomplete ending

Another great installment of The Expanse, right up to the premature end. A feature of this series I have enjoyed, apart from the reliability of the authors to get their books out on time, is that every book ended. Despite being a long running series, every book stood on its own. This one bucks the trend, and it was unsatisfying.

Just gets better and better

I was a massive fan of the Netflix and then Prime series and was gutted when it was canceled. I've listened to the the 2 previous books (where the series ended) and then this one. I've been blown away by how well the series matched the writing. If you loved the series then you will adore these books as a continuation and improvement of it.

Best one for a while

As usual I've heard a few complaints about pace but that's what these books have always been about - characters.

I enjoyed every minute and am now really looking forward to the next one.
