Summary

People like Emmy Jackson. They always have. Especially online, where she is Instagram sensation Mamabare, famous for telling the unvarnished truth about modern parenthood.

But Emmy isn’t as honest as she’d like the fans to believe. She may think she has her followers fooled, but someone out there knows the truth and plans to make her pay....

A smart and thrilling debut that delves into the darkest aspects of influencer culture, Ellery Lloyd’s People Like Her is about what you risk losing when you don’t know who’s watching....

fun domestic social media thriller

this was fun to listen to and made me chuckle a few times when I recognised some of the characteristics in people :) good tension and intrigue and well performed even tho I don't usually like multiple narrators this worked well.

A very intriguing read

Different, intriguing, and chilling read. Not my usual genre ...but I’m eagerly awaiting and hopeful for a sequel!

Brilliant!

This book is brilliant and narration spot on.

An absolutely devastating and darkly hilarious dissection of shallow Insta-lives.

The baddie is chilling and not too far-fetched.

The most "page turner" of an audiobook I have listened to in a while.

Interesting storyline, different!

Volume variance between readers which was annoying, took away from the interesting & unique storyline

Absolutely superb

After reading and really enjoying The Club, I wanted to see what else Ellery Lloyd had created. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! A fascinating insight in to the world of influencers, how it really works and all of the little tricks behind the cameras. Such an interesting concept for a book and a very strong ending. Look forward to the next!

Social media scary tale

Important to declare that I am NOT a fan of social media and if this cautionary tale doesn't give pause for thought then you deserve everything you get .... as did Mamabear in this well-narrated but very scary novel. Read it and weep if you live your life on facebook, instagram and twitter (amidst any others I have failed to notice). The adage 'you reap what you sow' has never been more relevant and I urge those who are fans to listen to this and hopefully act upon its warnings. Have to say I did enjoy the novel but as an outsider looking in and not a participant of this dangerous game. Good luck and take care out there!!!

Interesting story and great performance!

This book kept me interested the entire time and wanting to know what was going to happen next/how it would end. All the characters were perfectly unlikeable yet also so relatable in terms of social media and the current trends in ‘instagram influencing’. The ending was definitely very satisfying and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes classic thrillers with quite a modern touch.

Good

An all to real interpretation of the shallowness of the social media / influencer society. Shocking.
