Rescued from a street gutter, she had the good fortune to be adopted by author Brian L. Porter and his family. Despite suffering from a catalogue of injuries, including two broken legs and skin allergies, and eventually being diagnosed as a serious epileptic at just two years old, Sasha's story is one of triumph over adversity; of love, happiness, and inspiration.

Story
Hi! I’m Frankie, and if you like dogs, then The Stories of Jack and Rory is the perfect book for you! My Granny Trish tells great stories, and these are about two Labrador dogs called Jack and Rory and all the adventures they have throughout their lives. Some of the stories have morals to them, lots of them are funny, and some of them are sad. Granny Trish says that because of some of the sad bits, this book might not be suitable for really little kids. I’m seven and three-quarters years old and her stories about Jack and Rory are my favorites! I really hope you enjoy them!

In the following decade, life spiralled further out of control, as substance abuse filled the hole meaningful relationships should have occupied. Something had to change. Tess had always loved animals, so when she saw a post on Facebook about the plight of two dogs in Romania, she was moved to take action, helping find homes for both. It was the first step on the road that led her to Kratu.

Story
One winter's afternoon, Stephen Foster walks into a dog re-homing center with the intention of picking up a retired greyhound. Instead, he acquires an abandoned lurcher pup. Foster's knowledge of dogs is so vague that he has to look up 'lurcher' in key reference work The Giant Book of the Dog, to find out what sort of animal is coming to join the family. His research counts for little: the new arrival does not conform to any known breed standard, or indeed any standard whatsoever that might be considered dog-normal.

Love this Little Dog and Woman Who Found Her
Another short story I listed to about tiny terrier, abandoned tied to a railroad track in a cruel manner and the woman who saves her and names her Penny. Penny's has changes and fears to overcome but the love and understand of this woman touched my heat.
Penny overcomes being attacked and needing emergency surgery and a few days out at the coast, chasing seagulls, and stately homes, Penny's life in Brian's pack of rescue dogs has never been anything but interesting and eventful.
I look forward to reading and listening to more of the Family of Rescue Dogs series.
