Good story spoiled by bad narrating

Good story, but the narrator killed off the suspension by reading it in a very monotone voice and the conversations became very dull. Almost every sentence ended with the voice going down, regardless of the content of the sentence. Fun story, but clearly aimed at American audience in the late 1980’s

Riveting story - terribly narrated

Action packed story - if you can make it past the narrator’s dull, flat, droning delivery.

A good yarn

I loved this story. Was gripping in spite of the somewhat peculiar stilted narration. I really hesitate to make such criticism but I kept thinking at various parts in the book that what was happening would have been so much richer if the cadence of the voice of the narrator changed.

Was like listening to a person speak in time to a metronome. Shame. The actual story was well crafted enough to keep me listening tho.

Really very good.

A gripping read. From a British readers view, the american authors portrayal of the UK can be a little steriotypical, but thats a good thing, because it shows us Brits what others think our country is like. Made me smile knowingly.
The story is gripping and interesting and the characters likable and consistant. There is a little waffle (the text drags on just a touch in places) but overall, a great listen/read.

A long winded story

Maybe this is a great book, but there’s over long gaps between the action scenes – perhaps it’s not actually the writing, because certainly the narration is pretty horrible and that definitely detracts much from the story

An enjoyable book

Whilst I agree the reader gets some pronunciation wrong, this is mainly due to the difference in UK English & American English.
This does not defer from the story and the plain tones used is suitable for this type of story

Horrible Narration

I was looking forward to listening to this but honestly it’s the worst narration of any audiobook I’ve listened to I mean didn’t they get him to trail a chapter first so so one tone boring and it’s such a good book

Excellent Storyline

An old story now but still worth a listen. Fast moving, detailed and lots of plot. Narration is a little stunted, that was early audiobooks though!

Disappointed

Rare occasion where the film was better than the book! Cringe worthy characterisation of the Royal family.
