Summary

Past Reason Hated is the fifth novel in Peter Robinson's Inspector Banks series, following on from The Hanging Valley. 

It should have been a cosy scene - log fire, sheepskin rug, Vivaldi on the stereo, Christmas lights and tree. But appearances can be deceptive. For Caroline Hartley, lying quietly on the couch, has been brutally murdered.

Awful narration

It is so disappointing when an author you love has such rotten luck to be lumbered with a narrator who just puts nothing into the characters, I am sorry but everything seems so boring. Reluctantly am giving up on the series

Past Reason Hated

The problem with this is the actors voice. when he is reading female dialogue all the characters sound the same. They sound like Les Dawson so it is hard to take it seriously. The story is bland and in the end one doesn't care who dunnit. unfortunately all the DSI Banks have the same narrator. The voice and intonation is so important.

It’s a little outdated

I’m hanging in there with DCI Banks in the hope that the stories mature and female characters aren’t just sexy or harridans but humans .......here’s hoping.....
